I think the aztecing throws off the look of the registry and name. With the shaded letters, the ship itself needs to be one solid color.

The aztecing work done for The Motion Picture was astonishing and a brilliant job at selling the ship's scale without adding lots of greebles and nurnies. But it's become overblown and overused. Whether the hull is painted, coated with nanotech metamaterials, or space-naked, I'd wager that any kind of paneling shown will be subtle if visible at all. I vote for a solid color, too, more or less.
I'd rather see minor distortions -- bulges and dents along framing members caused by temperature extremes. Take a look at this ship's bow ... notice the dents and bulges at regular intervals? See how subtle the seams are? Big, obvious texture work was fine for 2005 when it was tough to get in this close and you wanted to show how big a starship is, but now it's time to show these ships more 'realistically'.
Actually, turbos on either side of the rear station - symmetrical.Forward-facing helm and offset turbolift: groovy!
Those nacelles are pretty beefy. 220, 221; whatever it takes, right?
