Am I the Only One Who Desperately Craves a Captain Shaw Series?

Seriously Todd Stashwick is knocking it out of the park this season on Picard and I find myself hoping that if he survives someone seriously considers doing a series that centers on the Titan, with Liam Shaw as captain. It seems like they give a series to any other half decent Star Trek premise. Why not Star Trek: Dipshit from Chicago.

Now a popular cause on Twitter!

If you like the character and Todd Stashwick, I highly recommend checking out 12 MONKEYS (the series -- no need to have knowledge of the 1990s film). In the US on Hulu, or buy it on Blu-ray.

I think I’d be more inclined for this if his character softened a touch. The scene where he’s all chipper in the turbo lift is pretty funny, and an anti-hero would be an interesting step in another direction for Starfleet. I’m just not sure if I’d be that excited for a “I guess an asshole is just a replacement for charm” type lead role.

I agree that Stashwick is killing it, I just think his trope might get a little tiresome after 15/20 episodes of the same thing.

As I mentioned in another thread, Shaw seems to be at the turning point of a substantial and significant character arc. He is a fascinating character, and I would love to see his character to be further developed. And as disappointing as this may be to some, that development would have to include a softening of his rough edges.

Well if they're going with a spinoff, he's certainly a good candidate to get a spot with Seven and Raffi. I think a retooled Starfleet Intelligence show would be a good call. I imagine they've lost Michelle Yeoh by waiting so long.

Frakes all but said in an interview that they're not exploring the 32nd century anymore. So after Picard ends, we only have Strange New Worlds. Assuming they continue the 25th century, they could retool Section 31 to not be starring Yeoh (her character doesn't have much to do with Section 31 really anyway) and have it star Santiago Cabrera as Rios if they can't get Yeoh back. The mystery of how he returned to the 25th century could be a long running plot thread that will keep viewers hooked for a while.

If there is to be a new series, I imagine that its hook will most likely be connected to Picard season 3, as that season has the most buzz and excitement around it. I don't see Rios headlining a new series but I could certainly see a mix of Shaw, Seven, and Raffi.

If there is a Titan show, I hope they keep Shaw as Captain with Seven as his XO. The main character does not have to be the Captain.

But the more I see them together the more I want a “buddy cop” action series featuring Worf and Raffi.

I can see any of the new (and old) characters headlining a new series. The question is: which character is the most marketable at the least cost? Then, you can get into the story/plot/preamble of the series: another exploration show, or a niche show (featuring "Section 31" for instance)? It'll depend where the IP holders think will sell, as far as these streamer services are concerned.

Just hire Pedro Pascal as some character protecting a kid in a lawless world/galaxy. Hey, it worked for 2 other streaming networks.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be on board. As one of the very few people (only person?) who isn't seeing Shaw's appeal I'd find a series with him as the lead character difficult to watch. I'd be on board with Seven / Jeri Ryan. Ditto Sidney LaForge and the rest of Titan's crew - all of whom would need substantial character development, of course, but thus far they seem an interesting group with a lot of potential. But Shaw's mood swings (for lack of a better description) and tendency to childishness just don't work for me. Each to their own.
