Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

To bring it back to Star Wars, since I know nothing of what's being discussed, one of my current favorite podcasts released their 3 hour commentary episode on "Star Wars." We Hate Movies does a "We Love Movies" episode throughout the year and for the summer they'll release one. Some comedy, some discussion of filmmaking, and a lot of nerd talk.

I largely agree with that sentiment, but I also really enjoyed The Acolyte (but I'm willing to admit it had its flaws) and almost all of Picard (season two had its rough spots but overall, still enjoyable).

But I think we all agree Secret Invasion was a dumpster fire.
To me, The Acolyte came across as very interesting backstory to a larger and better story. While I did like some of the characters, literally all of whom were killed, the story itself never really grabbed me. It wasn't until the very end, when Darth Plagueis and to a lesser extent Yoda entered the picture, that I really wanted to know what came next.

When I speak of Star Trek Picard, I am largely speaking of the disastrous second season, which is as bad in my mind as Secret Invasion and tied with E Enterprise season 2 as the worst season of Star Trek ever made. While I really enjoyed season 3, I truly do understand why so many people didn't. I didn't see it as an attempt to break new ground, but rather getting the band back together for a reunion tour. When you go see a band out of reunion tour, you don't want to hear new crap, you want to see the greatest hits being played. Some people on this board have scoffed at that idea, but for myself, next month I'm going to go see Jane's Addiction and Love and Rockets playing together, two of my favorite bands from the '80s and '90s and I am excited as hell, despite some of the reviews that I've read that say that Perry Farrell has lost a step over the years. The reviews for Love and Rockets, a deeply underrated band are absolutely stellar. Will Wheaton and I share the sentiment that Love and Rockets is our favorite band of all time. Do I want to hear any new material? Do I care if they've gotten old and are no longer in their prime? Hell no. I'm excited as hell.

Frankly, if Picard had stuck with the status quo from season 1 for all three seasons, I would have been perfectly fine with that. To stick with the reunion tour metaphor, his solo album wasn't as good as his work with the band, but I did like it for what it was and would have liked more.

They did use a head sculpt from the comedy Top Secret! which came out a few years later as reference material.
