Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

DICE Battlefront 2's Ewok's have an ability to throw a pouch of Wisties, a fairy like creature that originated from Caravan of Courage.

Cool. I love that they're even incorporating stuff from some of the goofier and cheesier parts of Legends.
Those 80's cartoons and TV movies seem to have kind of a special status at Lucasfilm; most likely because George and other key staff were directly involved in those projects to some degree or another, so they're seen to carry just a little more weight than most of the rest of what later became known as the EU (now 'Legends').
The blurrgs for example originate from 'Caravan of Courage' and were done by Phil Tippett, making them about as authentic as a Star Wars creature can get, so of course they'd later show up in Clone Wars, Rebels, and finally again in live action with 'The Mandalorian'.
There even been all kinds of little name-drops from the Droids cartoon of all things (which both Ben Burtt and Joe Johnston wrote for) in various reference books, and background material over the years. From the speeder manufacturer of Kanan's bike being the same company from the White Witch arc, to Tammuz-an being one of the suppliers fo A-Wings to the early rebellion, to Ben Burtt's cameo character in TPB being of the same Baobab family as the main character from the arc he worked on.

That's pretty fun. I knew blurgs were in Caravan of Courage, but it didn't really register when I saw it that was where they came from.

Hera's blaster model is named Blurrg-1120

Were the book and comic announcements the only Star Wars news we got at SDCC?

Well, there were lots of toy and collectable reveals and future figures in both 3.75" and 6" being pipelined.

I wouldn't expect any news on the production side of things until at least D23 next week. If there's any new movies or shows they're ready to talk about, that's where any new additions to the slate will be announced. Same for any public first looks at 'Skeleton Crew' or 'Andor: Season 2'.

A 'Skeleton Crew' teaser seems plausible enough given it's only 3-4 months out, and they've had one in the can for over a year at this point. Beyond that; I wouldn't hold my breath.

'Princess Leia’s Star Wars gold bikini fetches $175,000 at auction' (£136,000, A$266,000):-

www.theguardian.com/film/costume-and-culture/article/2024/jul/29/princess-leias-star-wars-gold-bikini-fetches-175000-at-auction

'A miniature aircraft from the first Star Wars film, A New Hope, also sold for US$1.55m (£1.2m, A$2.36m) at the auction. The miniature Y-Wing Starfighter, which helped bring down the Death Star in A New Hope, was one of only two miniatures created for the production.'

Nice investment /return for what was previously paid for the bikini ($96,000 in 2015). That Y-Wing looks a beautiful work of art, too (with some quality close-up images in the auction link).

Glad to see the Y Wing get some love.

The Star Wars Bounty Hunter remaster is out. I bought it on PC and it runs amazingly.

Despite it saying a controller is recommended, it plays fine with Mouse+Keyboard.

Might actually be too easy with Mouse+keyboard

Yeah, I heard about Lando getting the axe. It was taking too long to come together--couldn't get all the ducks to line up in a row. And with Disney now taking a long hard look at every project, it missed its opportunity to get made, IMO. Lando wound up with a losing hand of sabacc cards...

Sorry if this has already been covered, and I can't really say that I'm surprised, but Lando ain't happening...

This is kind of old news. As in there's nothing here we didn't already know last summer during the strikes, which is that Simien is out, the Glover brothers are in, and it's probably not even a show anymore, but a movie. I don't see any kind of confirmation here that the project as a whole has been axed, just that this guy's version of it wasn't carried forward. It's not like he has any more knowledge than anyone else does of what's going on at Lucasfilm since he left.

But of course dramatic headlines get clicks and "Filmmaker sad he didn't get to make his Lando show two years ago" doesn't quite have the right ring to it . . .

There's a new article from A.V. Club that refutes the story that the Lando show is dead.
Lando show is still on

Long story short, it suggests that Simien was taken out of context in his interview and that he was referring to his original version of the series not moving forward. Otherwise, the new version by Donald and Stephen Glover is still in the works at Disney Lucasfilms.

Will Glover be Williams' age by the time this hits the screen? ;)

Just out curiosity I looked and Donald Glover is 40, and Billy Dee Williams was 43 when The Empire Strikes Back came out, so the way things are going there's a pretty good chance that Glover could be as old a BDW was in Empire by the time Lando comes out.
