being Daniels is less crazy than Khans descendant having served with Spock and Kirk's brother
and if possibly is Future Guy, and was part of both the time war and dept of temporal investigations at various parts of his life, then it all goes from coincidence/convenience to actual plot arc.

I honestly don't see where this need for Future Guy to be "someone we know" comes from. They certainly never hinted as much on the show.
Quite the opposite, in fact. Future Guy is stated to be from the 28th century, and making him the only character in the entire Trek Canon we know to be from the 28th century. So there is quite literally no possible way he could be someone we know.

But we all know what facts mean around here.

Brannon Braga said that he thought Future Guy was Jonathan Archer who somehow made it to the 28th century alive. Since cryogenic stasis was established as existing in Trek as early as Space Seed, then it is very possible for Future Guy to be an established Trek character as his presence in the 28th century wouldn't preclude his being from an earlier century and surviving via stasis.
