Alien races you think should be main or recurring characters

In a future Trek series, what kinds of returning alien races should be part of the main or recurring cast?

Personally, I'd like to see a Bolian crewman. I think a reformed Changeling and/or Jem'Hadar main or recurring character. And I'd be interested in seeing Picard-era Kelpians.

Surprised we've never had an Andorian regular on any of the subsequent TV shows when they're one of the first races established as being in the Federation.

I think it's because TOS didn't have the budget for it, TNG/DS9 didn't want to reuse most TOS races (iirc that's whether got Bolians instead of Andorians) and ENT showed first contact with them. But I agree with you

I think a post Picard show wouldn't hurt to have at least one new alien race developed (especially if they went to the Gamma quadrant)

I'd like to see a Klingon or Ferengi captain who would handle business from their standpoint... taking into account Star Fleet rules naturally.

I want to see more unique cultural input and consequence and not a sanitized, Picard-esque, "intellectual" way of doing absolutely everything.

ARM PHOTON TORPEDOS!! :klingon:

I'd hardly call Picard sanitized. In fact I tend to like his less belligerent approach. Being the captain of a massively powerful starship shouldn't fall to someone who uses force too readily

I'd like to see a female main Ferengi character in that respect

We have been sorely lacking in Tellarite characters - Jankom Pog is like the first time an individual Tellarite has been in multiple episodes. And they’re a founding race!

I was happy for Hemmer, to learn more of the Andorians and Aenar, but we sadly didn’t get any significant focus or feature there, so I’d like to see that happen.

Same on that subject with Elnor and the Romulans, come to think of it.

Gonna second the Bolians getting more portrayals. I’d also like to see some variation for the Naussicans and give them a further exploration. I’d also be down for SNW to bring in an El-Aurian, learn about their pre-Borg civilization.

I liked the idea of Cardassian and Bajoran starfleet officers serving on the same ship.
I was just thinking about a Klingon husband and wife duo, perhaps not from the warrior caste but still drinking the honour koolaid maybe.
I would love to see a short film about two Cardassians or two Klingons on a date.

At least a bolian recurring character. And tbh I feel the Illyrians and/or Lanthanites could've just been el-Aurians. I didn't really care for another odd race looking exactly like humans

And on that note, I'd like to see Species 1, the original Borg, show up. See the origin of the El-Aurians too

Yeah, that would be great, especially in a follow up to Picard. We could get the Cardassian parallel to Worf, and seeing Bajor and Cardassia after all these years would be nice too

Personally, I'd like if a Picard spin-off did some Gamma Quadrant exploration, so I'd enjoy seeing Bajoran, Cardassian and Bolian crew members (and even an El-Aurian one)

If my memory serve right, there are 5 species who formed the Federation in Star Trek Enterprise. Human, Vulcan, Andorian, and two other species which the name elude me. So where are the other two species?

Edit :
After I read Memory Alpha, it 4 species. The last one is Tellarites. But it seems there is no Star Trek show that give them the justice.

Tellarites definitely get the short end of the stick (pun intended)

I propose they first continue/finish, rather than cancel, the one series that has a main cast composed of a Tellarite, a Medusan, a Brikar, a Vau N'akat and one other.

A live action Vau N'akat would be nice at some point, but that would be rather effect heavy (and thus probably relatively expensive) to do well, I'd imagine. It works well in animated form, though.
