Alien, Predator, AvP (news)

I have no problem with the idea either. Sounds interesting.

But I'm probably a soyboy cuck beta though, so what do I know? ;)

My only gripe is that punim. I know trailer CG is rarely the finished product, but I'm really hoping that the finished version of the face will be much better as opposed to just slightly better.

Gotcha. I try not to venture too far from here. ;)

Smart move/

Well I like the idea. He's the underdog and I'm rooting for him.

Agreed. Ignorant people will believe that all members of fictional alien species should be exactly like another.
Smart people are aware that all life on this one planet we belong to is not similar to another member of their respective species. Similar traits perhaps, but look at any apex predator on this planet alone. There are runts there as well. And we root for them when we see cute videos about them online. So why not cast a spotlight on a whole new dimension of Yautja culture?

Many, many, many MANY grains of salt are required now, but.....

After the drop that a Weyland Utani synth will be part of the new Predator movie, reports are saying that the sequel to Alien Romulus will have a Predator in it.

If this doesn't lead to a film about a squad of Colonial Marines taking on Preds and Xenos, then I'll probably cry or something.

I'll never understand how we can be on a potential third Alien vs Predator movie and we haven't gotten that yet.
Is Dek the first Predator, at least in a movie, to have a name?

Has the term “Yautja” ever been used in any of these films? I honestly can’t remember where it came from. There was also the notion that the “official scientific” name for the Xenomorphs was Linguafoeda Archeronsis or something like that.

I remember Celtic, Scar and Chopper from AVP and Wolf from AVPR, but I don't know if they were supposed to be given names.

It came from the books written by Steve and Stephanie Perry.

There's a moment in The Predator where it sounds a lot like one of the Predators says Yautja. (Yah-oot-cha) But that's as far as the movies have gone so far.

If his name is said on screen, it'll be the first in a film. Plenty of other film ones have had unofficial and/or behind the scenes names, like the ones Daedalus mentioned.

As @Tosk mentioned, it is not an official name. But for the fans that have gone deep into the novels and comics, it's basically the 'official' name. I still hope at some point the name will be dropped in a movie.

I don't think so, i believe it's a comics origin where they expanded on the race and gave them more background.

Way back ( it may have even been the late 90s) i played the Predator vs. Aliens game, a shooter where you could play as a Predator, Alien and Colonial Marine.

The Marine campaign has you enter an abandoned compound and explore it with the occasional scripted scare when something falls from the roof or over and your motion tracker giving off the tense clicking as you make progress. You get into a large room full of alien eggs and at this point Aliens break through the wall en masse and begin attacking you.

Nearly lost my shit ( was playing this at night within a silent house adding to the tension), ran backwards and emptied every gun i had on me before making out - this was perhaps my record number of Fuck in rapid succession i ever uttered while gaming

Long and pointless story short - i agree. A free for all action movie made by a good team would be awesome.

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness).

The first hybrid prototype, named Wendy (Chandler), marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides with Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

It was previously revealed that the series will feature 5 monsters.

I'm becoming more and more excited about this show. Hopefully this means Disney+ in the Netherlands will have it on that date as well.

EW has posted a new article as part of their summer preview that includes some new information about Sydney Chandler's character and the overall plot of the show.

Apparently Chandler's Wendy and several other characters are "hybrids", robot bodies with a human child's brain, that are made by Prodigy, one of the five corporations that control the Earth. The other corporations are Weyland-Yutani (of course), Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.
Is all of this new to the franchise? I don't recognize any of it from the movies, but I don't know them as well as some other franchises, and I've never read any of the books and comics, or played any of the games.
The article also mentions multiple creatures only one of which is a Xenomorph, so it sounds like we'll be getting some new aliens this time. Unless, it's just facehuggers, and chestbusters and they're counting them as separate from the Xenomorphs.
