Alien, Predator, AvP (news)

I'd been seeing an ad for what appeared to be a new Alien movie on the marquee of the El Capitan on my way in and out of the Hollywood & Highland Red Line station since the beginning of the Hollywood Bowl season. Last night, heading into the station after the concert, I finally got a good look at the marquee.

Alien: Romulus.

Hmm. I wouldn't exactly object to throwing a few facehuggers and chest-bursters into the Romulans. Maybe even Michigan J. Xenomorph, from Spaceballs.

The Romulus trailer tells me nothing really new.
Crew goes to space station, on station are Aliens, Aliens kill crew.

The BBFC have just rated Romulus in the UK and have given it a 15 certificate, which is surprising as considering the director, O was expecting a full blown 18. Looks like the film will be restrained after all.

That means nothing. I am still close to a woman I dated a few years ago, from Germany. Her daughter and I have a great bond and we are all invested in that. Not that long ago, she decided to watch The Help with her 5 year old, considering the racial issues it deals with and the age rating was 0, meaning everyone could watch it. It didn't take her long enough to realise this was not a movie for a 5 year old.
Age ratings are something completely off the mark.

The Help is a 12 in the uk.
I feel like the BBFC do a good job at rating films than other countries. Certainly better than the US where a few f words make a film a R with nothing else.

I had always thought there was some specific system to how they rate movies in the US, but it turns out there's not. I read an article about it a while back and, a bunch of people just get together and watch the movies and then just pick a rating without really doing any kind of deep analysis.

The new Deadpool comes to mind. Wasn't that R in the US and 15 in the UK too?

Chekov-bursters are simply a matter of time once Disney gobbles up Paramount.

I thought it was out on Friday

It probably is in whatever part of the world you reside - but here in New Zealand, it was a pre-release showing at Event Cinemas, Queensgate - Lower Hutt (Wednesday night, 8:30pm - 14/08/2024 - NZST).
