I agree. I actually think it would have been cooler to have Voq look like a human the whole time and him just be hanging out with a load of other people who look like humans and we’d be all like “are they Maquis? Are they terra prime?” But then the DSC twist machine comes on and is like “no Trekkers, they’re Klingons dun dun dun!”But why did every single Klingon in the season get depicted that way? It wouldn't have taken much work to have a few other kinds of Klingons hanging out in the back of the room in some of the crowd scenes.
Same. The augment virus seems tailor made to explain the Klingon appearance- and any changes to them going forward as well. Ah Enterprise - creating and solving continuity problems since 2151...I'd forgive the producers in a heartbeat for a lot of what they've done up until now if they used this explanation.
CBS sees the writing on the wall, and knows broadcast TV is dying. It doesn't want to sign a deal with someone like Netflix or Amazon (or even Hulu) because it understands the end-result of this would be CBS reduced to running a production studio and being a virtual shadow of itself in a decade or two. In order to survive it needs to have a successful streaming platform. In order to have a successful streaming platform it needs native content. Right now, Star Trek is the most lucrative native content it can offer.
Reading this you suggest essentially more of established Star Trek rather than an actual expansion of the universe (I.e. a story with a new crew in a new context, etc.) just a continuation of the TOS and TNG stories? On one level I don’t have a problem with that - I have great affection for the TOS and TNG characters, but do you think it speaks to the relative success (or lack thereof depending on how you look at it) of DSC to get fans to buy into its premise? I wonder whether we’d be hoping for more of what we’ve already seen if DSC had been more consistently compelling overall.Hmmm.. Expansion eh?
I would love to see a new Filmation style continuation of the classic adventures of the Original Enterprise, while Shatner and other surviving cast members are still alive. (think Doctor Who Big Finish voice overs but set to the filmation style cartoon) Maybe 4 seasons more and a couple of specials to release on Sci-Fi or Netflix, or their platform. I would also love to see a Filmation style retro cartoon also of the Next Gen cast. Those two things (oh and in TNG every spin off can make story appearances, like the Enterprise is docked at DS9 or something.. this is ofcourse set after Voyager, so it would be perfect to do as a cartoon series. Those two ideas there would bring me back, even if STD does have a shitty season 2, at least to episode 5. But as of now, I canceled my subscription after the season finale was over. It didn't seem worth it with netflix and HULU already on my viewing list Payroll.

They'll need to expand beyond the US if that's their plan and there's always the chance they've left it too late to beat Netflix etc
While all access is coming to Canada, I believe it was confirmed that DSC will not be on it, at least not exclusively.

They're currently working on expanding beyond the US. They're launching in Canada and Australia. Presumably, UK is the next market to target.
These new Trek shows may or may not be on Netflix internationally as the Netflix deal was probably strictly with Discovery only.
Netflix has the broadcast rights to DSC, they don't own the property itself. Don't know how much of the financing deal grants ownership, if any.You are completely correct. Discovery is a Netflix property and shall always be a Netflix property for the lifetime of the show; they did invest over $100 million in the rights for Discovery. But future Trek shows may or may not be part of this deal, no one knows except those involved in it.

How could they dismiss fan complaints if no one saw the show before it came out?as it was divisive and dismisive of fans complaints.
I'm speaking about after STD aired. Those complaints were trivialized as racist and sexist. Tho many were legit and didn't have a focus on that at all. But reaction from show producers on various social media platforms only angered long time fans with accusations like that, simply because fans weren't happy with aspects of the show.How could they dismiss fan complaints if no one saw the show before it came out?
