Alderaan exists in the Star Trek Universe too...

If I am not mistaken, Alderaan ceased to exist "a long time ago."

Which is why Vulcan hasn't appeared on Star Wars yet!

Since Star Wars probably exists as a fictional franchise in the Star Trek universe (which is very similar to our universe), perhaps the discoverer of the planet was a massive Star Wars fan and named the planet after Alderaan from Star Wars.

And then Disney built a giant Death Star (and two smaller ones attached to the upper corners), crewed by 1,148,309 lawyers, and blew that planet to kingdom gone. Thus starting the cycle anew.
