Alcatraz- I'm done with this show...

Alcatraz was one of those shows that hooked me with the pilot episode, not many really "hook" me as they tend to be a bit slow because they have to set up the show's premise and such, they usually give me enough interest to watch the next episode because I liked what I saw and I see the future potential.

Alcatraz on the other hand is going in reverse, it started out really strong (IMO) but with every episode it's just getting more and more boring, granted this week's episode was a tad bit different but all the previous episodes just felt like a re-write of each other, instead of a sniper make him a chemist, instead of a chemist make him a mad bomber and so on, it just feels like catch the con of the week.

By now (episode 8) I would be hoping for more of the mystery of the 63's to be pooping up but not so much, I told myself the week's episode had to be the one that reeled me back in because each week I'm wiggling more and more off the hook, looks like I'll be the one that got away....Oh well.

Given the ratings, I think this show is done with all of us, too. :rommie:

But here is the correct place to register your ire at JJ Abrams, FOX Broadcasting and the universe in general.

Science fiction is always almost unforgivably terrible and embarrassing.

2 episodes tomorrow.

3 more weeks.

CANCELLED.

I can handle that.

Then hopefully George can find a show to call his own which doesn't claim that big dudes are shitty lovers, and call it a joke.

(Have you seen last weeks Archer about how big girls who are raised on a farm are magnificent lovers?)

If we can't trust these assholes to make new good shows, how awful would it be to wish for a remake of Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp?

Because really, that's all Archer is, sans the Chimps.

I watched the first few, but have noticed that the next couple are just sitting on my DVR, no real urge to watch. Pretty much ignored the mystery in favor of a fairly boring criminal of the week format, which kinda sucks. Not much variety, other than the specifics of the crime, so without more mythology quickly, it's gonna get dropped by me...

Heard the premise - sounded interesting
Watched the promo - looked interesting
Saw the first episode - t'was interesting
Watched episodes 2-7 - a slow regression into banality

Given the ratings, it's on its death-bed anyway. Can't say that I'm bothered.

I watch it. I like it. From the first episode, I figured out what it is, and I'm fine with it. It's a cheesy homage to 70s TV like almost everything that comes out under the names J.J. Abrams or Bad Robot. It doesn't have the shock value or support that LOST had. It doesn't have the collection of interesting characters Fringe has. But I'd rather watch Alcatraz than most of what's on TV. Particularly network TV. I don't expect it to last beyond this season. I'm enjoying it while I got it.

I'm gonna go ahead and finish the first season since I've come this far. I was watching a webisode featuring the actors asking each other questions and they were all laughing and seemed to be having a great time. It made me realize how poorly written all the characters on Alcatraz are. I have no incentive to anticipate the next episode.

It gets repetitive, yes. A new prisoner to catch every week. The main characters are vapid and uninteresting. If it continues at this pace, not even Hurley or Mr. Jurassic Park can save this show. But there's nothing else good to watch on Mondays.

I imagine ABC's The River will suffer the same fate.

Tera Nova was awful but painless.

The River is awful but painful.

Maybe even feeling someone's taken to you with a hammer is better than feeling you've been asleep for a week, and the River might not get squashed so quickly.

But it's shit.

You want a good show, try: "the Almighty Johnsons"

Did The River improve after those first couple of episodes? I watched those, but those were bad enough that I really didnt want to watch any more of it.

They brought in the rebel without a cause kid from Greek who is playing Becka's ass boyfriend on Californication as a sexy Poochy.

He's changed the dynamic a little.

I play it in the background while I do something else, so I'm not quite following it...
so why is the one woman alive in both the past and the present and appeared to survive being killed?

Lucy played by Parminder Nagra of ER and Bend it like Beckham fame?

the entire prison was emptied in 1963.

Prisoners, guards, support staff and probably the Warden.

A guard showed up in one episode, who turned out to be an asshole.

the Doctor, benny from LA LAW, Doctor Giggles Even... he's in the past and the present Too, working for hte man either side of the space time continuum.

People have been showing up from Alcatraz for a long time before Pretty blond Cop (Rebecca) joined the cause... For good and bad.

I still have to see tonight's episodes.

Busy with Tracker, which has a very young Amy Francis Price being simply Gorgeous.
