Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

I would have wanted to see Leia as a character, but not as a CGI re-creation which would have been the only way to do that. So 3P0 showing up as messenger/proxy works for me.

Kor
Indeed. I don't see recasting happening any time soon after the dust up over "Solo" (misplaced though it might be). The future of LFL and their famous characters appears to be CGI and Deep Fakes. So, if Luke, Leia and Han come back it will be as CGI recreation in some manner.

Anakin's return was interesting but both the actor and character are underwhelming....C3PO's return on the other hand...AMAZING

I think it's more a case of; if they're going to cast a new, RotJ+ aged Leia then it's going to need to be for a substantial project, not just a two minute cameo and done. No such project is on the horizon, so there's no reason to go to that kind of effort. It's not the kind of thing you want to half-arse.

I finished Rebels right after watching last night's Ahsoka episode, so now I feel like I've got all the pieces I need to understand all of this. I was glad to see Ahsoka's sense of humor back. And Ezra being a doofus with Sabine. :)

With the Strike over, and people going back to work, I imagine Filloni and company can sit down and plan for any future shows that lead into the movie. Unless they plan to dance around the Heroes of Yavin and just use Mando, Fett, Ahsoka and the Ghost crew heroes instead, they will need to plan how to bring back roughly 40 year old Han Solo, a 30 year old Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa. While they have a Deep Fake Luke and a Deep Fake Indiana Jones (who can sub for Han Solo), they have a less advanced, even younger CG version of Leia from Rogue One and Rise of Skywalker which would need improving and approval from Fisher's family. That or recast them. But if they intend to dance around the characters so much, it might not be worth it to recast them since they aren't the focus of more than part of a single episode, or even a single scene.

Plus their is a risk of recasting. The temptation to remake the OT for profit. Also to bring back Ewan to be Obi-wan for the remakes.

One thing that's consistently impressed me is how well these actors are inhabiting these already established roles. Eman's Ezra feels so much Like Taylor's it's spooky.
What's even better is the chemistry between Ezra and Sabine is perfect with where things were with them in season's 3 & 4. Totally buy them as surrogate siblings.
(Seriously, I have no idea why people continue to try to ship these two. It's obviously been brother and sister vibes pretty much from the jump.)

Well for one thing it ain't over 'till it's over. The contract language isn't finalise yet, so if the studios try to play silly buggers, then it could all be back on in a heartbeat.
Secondly; I suspect most of them are just going to wander over to the SAG-AFTRA picket line, and help support them for the time being, barring any particular contractual obligations. Because, you know, the actors are still on strike, and ain't nothing getting back up to full speed until that's resolved.
Thirdly; they probably already planned out the broad strokes of that already. You know, like before they announced it back in May.

Eman's practically IS the animated Ezra. The awkward, nervous body language. The worried attitude peppered with tension-breaking humor. The physical resemblance right down to the irises of his eyes. He's been the most consistently fun to watch of the Rebels legacy characters.

Solo is long in the past and any regular use of deepfaking a legacy character for anything more than a cameo would be prohibitively expensive and not so well received. Hayden is young enough that makeup and lighting can be used to great effect to practically "de-age" him with maybe a little CGI to touch up.

If they bring back Leia for any cameos, they can ask Billie Lourd to come back. They look enough alike that she can pass for her mother easily, with the right makeup and costuming.
I'd rather not see Luke again, we all love him and love Hamill, but his part is done. It's a big galaxy, let other characters take his spot.

The actors are still on strike though

Eman as Ezra has been a pleasant surprise. He's nailing it. Sabine is increasingly falling flat for me.

Interesting that they took the time to show the box full of Anakin's recordings. Something Sabine is going to inherit?
Speaking of those recordings, where did they come from? It's not like she was lugging them around with her after she left Order and then later into hiding during the Empire's reign.

I like how Huyang isn't like other droids and doesn't bother to calculate the exact odds, just says "no the chances are astronomically terrible!"
Not only that but I loved his use of astronomically in that moment! :D

Every scene Baylan is in is just so fascinating. He's willing to let his apprentice go and pursue her own ambitions while he continues on his path. We still don't know what drives him and I hope we find out since we only have one more episode left with him, ever.
Yeah, that's been worrying since the first episode. How complete is arc going to be after next week? Or are the showrunners stuck in an impossible situation?

Cool detail having Shin's blade distort when Ezra grabs it with the force. I don't think we've ever seen that before!
Damn, I completely missed that! I'll have to keep an eye out for that during my rewatch.

Of course Ezra tries and talk his way out of it. I'm surprised he didn't try and pull the old "I'm the Emperor's nephew!" gambit.
Gotta go with the Jabba gambit one last time. For old time's sake!

Also interesting that she offered her help.
I loved that moment but I was saddened (but not at all surprised) when she turned heel instead.

Speaking as someone who use to ship them early on, I get it. Took me a long time to finally let that pointless ship and accept what was obvious. The sibling energy is strong between them.

Maybe it's a coincidence (and maybe completely irrelevant), but this makes me think of all of the people who are mad how Babs and Buster in the new Tiny Toons are siblings now, instead of a perspective couple.

Shipping is one of the those things that I will never fully grasp. Like, from a cognitive standpoint I can almost get it, but it's easily ignored by me when I'm watching the show. So, the continued interest is something that I don't fall in for.

Probably on the T-6 since Jedi used those during the war.
