Agents of SHIELD: Season 6

One thing about this episode that bothered me somewhat: when non-gendered Chronicom boss person who's name I forgot started asking questions about time travel, why didn't Enoch pipe up with "I was the one that sent them though time with a white monolith..."? I mean it seems like relevant information, no? At the very least since the Earth based Chronicoms seemed to have been collecting those things he'd presumably have *some* idea what was going on there. I mean, he knew enough that the white one sent people through time and not to the dimension filled entirely with shrimp, or something.

Yeah, that bothered me as well (I forgot to mention it in my review). That seemed like a glaring error, especially since Enoch referred to that action earlier in the episode.

Or perhaps he deliberately withheld that information because he doesn't trust the leader based on his previous experiences with her (using our gender terms for both until we know their pronouns)? He did seem wary of her when she arrived and withholding such information might explain why he gassed Leo at the end of the episode.

Altarah probably refers to themself as nongendered because they are ai which frequently, or sometimes changes bodies. Or they say that they are non gendered because it does not have genitals, which is just a decision they made, despite superficially seeming female.

Enoch used to like Altarah enough to frakk them.

I'm pretty sure they're non-gendered simply because they're Chronicoms. They're all just Chronicoms and the external appearance as we've already seen is just that, an external covering to help them blend in with humanoids that do have genders...and skin.

Granted they're mostly playing the fact that they bumped dataports for laughs, but Enoch did say he was designed for (xeno?) anthropology AND sensual gratification.

It could just be that Enoch thinks that traveling forward in time is unremarkable and useless, and didn't know anything about how they traveled back in time or how it related to how he got them into that mess in the first place.

And yet apparently, he can just peel it all off and throw it on a couch while he takes a shower. As for the scan, he said his internals deliberately fool scanners into passing them as organic, that's not the same thing as actually being organic, hence: "fool".
I am a bit surprised we haven't gotten a clearer look at what the Chronocoms really look like. They haven't really even addressed the fact that they don't actually look like regular humans.
Lots of interesting new info revealed this week. I did not expect the Shrike to be connected to the Monotholiths, that was a big surprise, and a nice way to tie things back to the earlier seasons.
So it looks like Sarge and Co. are actually just planet hopping, rather than reality hopping. The reveal that he's over 100 years old was a huge shock. I wonder if this means he actually had that face first, or if there are some sort of time travel shenanigans in his past?
I'm assuming the Shrike destroyed the Chronochoms homeworld, so that should eventually allow the FitzSimmons storyline to tie back into the Earth based one.
I'm very curious to see what Enoch is up to, because I find it hard to believe he would actually betray Fitz like he seemed to at the end there.

Is it weird that their seeming to be from another planet(s) rather than an alternate universe(s) makes even less sense since now it means, somewhere out there in the universe someone is building ground vehicles that look *exactly* like actual real world big rigs?

Maybe it'll turn out they have some kind of unrevealed connection to Earth? That connection could also be part of the explanation for Sarge.
One thing that has bugged about the MCU since it started going into space is how many of it's aliens look completely human. I know people make fun of Star Trek's foreheard of the week, but at least that was putting some effort into making their aliens look different from humans.

Well, to be fair, that's an established reality in the comics as well. Kree are blue (and sometimes pink) humanoids, Shi'ar are humanoids with feathery hair, Silver Surfer's race is totally human-looking, etc. It feels like a throwback to the '60s because the universe was established in the '60s.

(And similarly, DC has Kryptonians, Thanagarians, Ranagarians, Tamaranians, etc.)

Plus, wasn't the Marvel Universe seeded by the human looking Eternals or some shit like that? That would certainly explain why a significant amount of different worlds have human looking inhabitants.

Not quite. The Eternals are an off shoot of humanity created by the Celestials through genetic jiggery-pokery. The Celestials are giant humanoid aliens covered in armor.

Are the Celestials wearing armor, or are they the armor? Everything I've seen them in has just shown the armor.

Well, we certainly had some interesting developments this time around, especially in the spaceborne thread of the story. Enoch and Fitz are no longer BFFs, thanks to the arrival of a rather ruthless Chronicom, or whatever they are, who decided that it's best to threaten death and torture rather than ask for help. Enoch and the newcomer have met before-- in fact, have apparently bumped USBs, whatever that means to genderless artificial life forms-- but Enoch is now a free spirit, by Chronicom, or whatever they are, standards, and they just don't have anything in common anymore. It turns out the Chronicoms, or whatever they are, were not after Fitz for violating the Temporal Prime Directive, but because they want him to go on violating-- because the Killer Bats From Outer Space that are threatening Earth have destroyed the Chronicom, or whatever they are, homeworld. Enoch decided that the only way to save everyone's lives was collusion, so he sold out Gemma to the you-know-whats. Now Quake and the two supernumeraries are back on Earth, but Fitz and Gemma are still lost in space, with the added burden of having to create a time machine. Maybe they'll come back with a sister for Deke this time.

Meanwhile, things are getting weirder on Earth, as May has learned that Sarge and his crew, despite being merciless mercenaries with moxie for mayhem are actually fighting the good fight to destroy the Space Bats and their mysterious creator-- although it was implied that Planet Earth may end up collateral damage in this battle. No new information was gleaned as to the relationship, if any, between Sarge and Coulson-- he did mention being a hundred years old, but that seems to be more about time dilation than actual age, but that would still mean that he was born decades before our guy.

Meanwhile, back in the lab, our new professor is still dissecting the Alien Space Bat who took up residence in the guy from Haven and claims that his best years are long behind him-- but I'm betting that he'll come up with a solution that will make Sarge and his crew redundant.
