The Red Skull is an evil dingbat and the rank and file are mouth breathers, but in the middle of those extremes are boring people who want to build a boring world.

That being said, I doubt they put too much thought into the inclusion of ribbons. Clearly they have a military advisor involved in some capacity to make sure things look right, but beyond that, I don't think they care.
But it's good they at least have a military advisor involved because even high-quality productions like The Shape of Water make obvious mistakes (to military personnel) like Gen. Hoyt's ribbons being upside down in at least one scene (which I noticed simply because of the placement of the National Defense Service Medal).

I don't know why Fitz/Simmons think they're invincible into the future. As soon as Jemma is impregnated (by Fitz), he can die. And as soon as she gives birth, she can die and their grandson can/will still be born. YoYo is a different story. YoYo was still alive in the future, not an offspring. Since YoYo was in the future (and witnessed by her and Mack), maybe the only way to break this loop is for her (younger version) to die.
^^ Fuzzy Guy remembers his mom talking about them, so they survived long enough for their kid to have memories of them.
This Fitz is broken.

Just switch them out.
Then we have evil framework Fitz with Foreknowledge in the future figuring out how to save Jemma (again), and a mentally healthy Fitz for Gemma to cuddle in the present.
Although if they break the loop, before the Earth blows up, then Fitz #1 is going to be woken up and returned to Earth early, so there will be two of them trying to woo Jemma, so Deek's mum is 50/50 if they could time it right so that the exact same sperm collides with the exact same egg just like last time.

That's not what she meant. She wasn't talking about whether they could die. She was saying their love could survive anything, that they would get past this crisis and remain together. That was Fitz's fear at the moment they were having that conversation. He thought he'd lost her, that he could never be forgiven for what he'd done. It would've been a non sequitur in that context for Simmons to be talking about their life expectancy. She was reassuring him that their marriage would survive.
No, Simmons realized when hearing about Yo-Yo's issue with a belief in her own invulnerability that time being fixed meant that they (she and Fitz) too would survive and would have something like invulnerability.
Perhaps they only think they can't die until the time loop is broken. If that is done then they will clearly have to deal with the fact that the future isn't set. I think the marriage not dying was the subtext but not the only thing they were talking about. I think they really do believe they can't literally die at the moment as well.

That bit struck me as odd because they were basically embracing the idea that the timeline couldn't be changed. Kinda sucks for everyone else, doesn't it?
Well, since the state of their relationship is kind of at rock bottom, Simmons would be grasping at any optimism she could find. Besides, if their love could survive in one timeline, it has the potential to survive in any timeline, so that would be enough to give her legitimate hope.
I just got a idea on how the season might end. Current somewhat evil Fitz dies for his sins Simmons puts herself into a time freezing capsule. . Fitz in the time capsule wakes up in the future and see;s everything has been fixed and he encounters Deke and all the other humans from the future and their child and of course Simmons who has also taken a trip to the future and they live happily ever after. May dies with Phil. Daisy takes command of Shield and Mack,YO-YO.Talbert and Generals daughter and who knows maybe even Lance and Bobbi making a cameo become the new A team of the new "Shield."
