Agents of SHIELD season 5

I thought I heard her personal name spoken in dialogue during "Rise and Shine", but I'm not sure.

Moving on to figuring that mess of decorations she's earned(?) under her USAF ID...

Okay, here's what I've got for Hale's ribbon decorations so far from publicity stills of her in-character:

1. Defense Superior Service Medal
2. ?
3. Bronze Star
4. Meritorious Service Medal (device unidentified)
5. AF Commendation Medal
6. Silver Star
7. ?
8. ?
9. ?
10. Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal
11. ?
12. ?
13. ?
14. AF Overseas Ribbon - Short Tour
15. AF Overseas Ribbon - Long Tour
16. ?
17. Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon
18. ?
19. NATO Medal for Yugoslavia(?)

I went off the scene with the best lighting, the hospital room. Mind you, I'm only going off this chart. I know Navy ribbons much better:

1, Agreed
2. Legion of Merit (with oak leaf cluster)
3-5. Agreed (with an oak leaf cluster on 4.)
6. Meritorious Unit Award (definitely not Silver Star)
7. Gallant Unit Citation (with two oak leaf clusters)
8. Air Force Organizational Excellence Award (with an oak leaf cluster)
9. National Defense Service Medal (hey, one I recognize because I have it, with one bronze service star)
10. Agreed
11. Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (oh, another!)
12. Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal
13. Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal (with an oak leaf cluster)
14-15. Agreed (with an oak leaf cluster on 14.)
16. Air Force Longevity Service Award (with an oak leaf cluster)
17. Agreed
18. Air Force Training Ribbon
19. Agreed

As to medals 10 and 11, could Hale have been awarded twice for separate operations?
Yup. There are two different GWOT medals, designed to cover different operations and level of service. Click on the medal links on the chart I linked to for the criteria. On a basic level, the expeditionary medal is for combat service, whereas the service medal is service in general, although that's probably a gross overgeneralization. I never saw combat, but I served aboard a ship for four years, so I have the service medal.

Already done so, and it unveiled a range of different options for her life story in between scenes. She got a lot of living and service (of different kinds) to both USAF and HYDRA done in that twenty-eight years. Those ribbons hint at some of it after she graduated from USAF Academy.

Indeed it does. The one that actually stands out the most to me is the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. I tried looking up the DoD instruction the criteria referred to but I couldn't find anything specific, but if I recall correctly, the number off duty hours necessary to achieve that medal is fairly high. I'm trying to imagine HYDRA service members doing community service in their spare time.

Edit: Never mind, I found it. The instruction is four volumes long (because, of course, it is) and I was only looking at one of the volumes. The service isn't defined by a specific amount of time, rather "the overall level of volunteer participation and impact of an individual’s community service."

Thanks for pointing this out.

Yeah, the idea of a HYDRA agent in deep cover in a military service also doing community service seems absurd, but given MCU HYDRA's dedication to long-game planning, especially between 1947 and 2014...

I don't think it's too absurd. Those sort of things get you noticed in the right way by the right people. Helps cement the cover.

I don't think it's absurd either for cover reasons, but the thought of them doing community service amuses me.
