Sure, but they specifically say "the next movie doesn't come out until May," not "the next movie that might have an impact on the show doesn't come out until May."

Human speech is a fallible and imprecise thing. Sometimes things are left implicit, or overlooked because they aren't relevant from the speaker's point of view. And TV producers are very, very busy making their shows and often don't have the luxury to pay attention to outside-world stuff that isn't relevant to their work, so they can easily have such lacunae in their awareness.

Great premiere. The writing for the characters seemed so relaxed and natural in a way that I don't think I've seen before especially so early in the season. Great humor which the show has always done really well. YoYo seemes to have taken over Mack's role conduit of deadpan humor, although all of the main characters seem to use it a lot. The team's reaction to YoYo's suggestion that maybe they were back in the framework was hysterical.

Apparently, Ming Na underwent a knee surgery not too long before they started shooting and that may be the reason May's leg injury was written into the episodes.

Don't know if this has already been brought up but, since Daisy was pulled out of the previous timeline, which apparently led directly to the current timeline, shouldn't the disaster caused by Daisy have been averted? Maybe she did something prior to their abduction that started a chain reaction that led to the disaster. Or, perhaps Daisy being pulled out of the prior timeline is what leads to the earth disaster.

Considering that this show has a firm tradition of getting better as the season wears on, I'm really excited.

Yeah, it's barely even the Framework -- it's just a generic VR simulation used as an escapist retreat. The technology is the same, but the content is unrelated, at least so far.

Okay, they sure are in the future. And the future looks exactly like we've been led to believe: Battleship gray with bad lighting. And the Earth has been destroyed, and the remnant is hanging in space like a hollowed-out crescent-- which is physically impossible, unless the culprit is Marvin The Martian.

That aside, we've got a pretty good mystery on our hands: The Earth, at some unspecified point in the (near) future is destroyed but good, however somehow a sustainable population is evacuated before or during this catastrophe to a space station located in the dense asteroid field created by the Earth's destruction. The Kree either build or conquer this station. Allegedly this destruction is caused by Daisy. Why the Kree would take control of the last of Humanity and rule over a crappy space station for generations without even moving it to a better location remains unknown.

Somehow, a government agency or paramilitary organization (which is ether controlled or infiltrated by non-Kree aliens) with access to a different kind of Kree monolith that can move people through time knows about these future events, and kidnaps some, but not all, of our core SHIELD operatives and sends them into the future to... be confused and get injured and captured and stuff. There was no briefing prior to transport and no mission plans provided. So we don't know who did this, how they got a monolith, why they picked these particular people, and what they hope will happen-- throw off the yoke of Kree tyranny or travel back to the present with the means of preventing the end of the world? And why didn't they offer any explanation? And why did all the SHIELD people appear in different places at different times?

But apparently the news of their arrival has been passed down (poorly) through the generations. The people who have been expecting them are considered nuts and are called True Believers, which is a nice touch.

Also, there are alien people-eaters called Roaches infesting unused levels of this gigantic space station. Did they come with the Kree or did they arrive by some other means?

So now they're trapped in an unfamiliar future, without Fitz, and May is injured, YoYo is injured, and Gemma is a harem girl with a Kree device in her ear that controls her hearing (and who knows what else). And Coulson doesn't even have his good hand. Mack has a lot to complain about.

This is certainly an intriguing start to the season, but they've got a lot of explaining to do.

I find it hard to believe that time travel on this level would be introduced into the MCU on Agents of SHIELD

Greetings from the future, Turtletrekker of three days ago! I'd offer to share some spoilers, but it might disrupt the space/time continuum.

MO, Season 5 is shaping up to be AOS’s “Year of Hell” or “Twilight” with the inevitable task of preventing the destruction of Earth and will be the MCU's first "reset button" that we've come to know in Trek. When all's said and done only Coulson and his team, with the exception of Fitz, will likely remember the "Lighthouse" future.

I don't think that averting an apocalyptic alternate future counts as a "reset button." Taking it as a given that the team is eventually going to get back to their own time, then they're going to be the only ones who "remember" the Lighthouse future whether they prevent it or not, since nobody else has been there.

I realized that I was wrong about them not being in the future as soon as I saw the white monolith.

How's that? Have we seen white monoliths before?

I don't know why they appeared in different places, but they were sent one at a time, and there is a small delay for everything to reset before the next person can be sent.

Good to know they're going to nail down the timeline later on...but it still bothers me that none of our heroes thought to ask.

Honesty it probably wouldn't be all that important. I mean what difference would it make if it was 2117 or say 21017? It doesn't change their situation or give them anything useful towards getting back to their own time.

We know the Kree have been here before, so we're at least close to their territory (which may span several galaxies IIRC) and we know from the Thor movies that this part of space: "Midgard" is the nexus point in a cosmos spanning network of wormholes. So clearly a strategically valuable location for an Empire looking to expand, or at least guard against anyone else encroaching on them from that vector.

As an aside: I'd be surprised is this is a particularly prestigious posting. I wouldn't be surprised if Kasius is a relatively minor administrative functionary as far as the hierarchy of the Kree Empire is concerned. His guards certainly don't have the feeling of a highly professional or disciplined force, so they may be very low on the food chain too, even for soldiers. Drop-outs or discharges maybe? This could even be a punishment posting for most of them.

Real world: to create drama and tension. In-universe: They were moved in both time and space and we know from Gemma's little deep space holiday that the exit terminus does shift with time. Without a stable planetary scale gravity well to anchor to, it may just make that effect even more erratic.

Wild guess: they're the feral decedents of whatever species Mr. Creepy McRubberHumanSuit belongs to. Of they could just be vermin that finds it's way onto most Kree ships. The interstellar equivalent of rats.

One of the popular theories right now is that they will find a way back and will spend however much is left of the season (at least) trying to figure out what happened to destroy the Earth and how they can prevent it.
Remember the people that sent them to the future knew specifically who to grab, and who to leave, so there appears to be some possible form of either travel or at least communication between the present and the future.

There was a line about the station being a survival bunker, so I think it was a self sustaining bunker that was on Earth, but got blown out into space when the Earth was destroyed.

I think what Bell was trying to say is that the people of the future have a mish-mash of the past cobbled together as their lives (such as believing Sharknado was a real thing and not a shitty film series). Not the clearest analogy, I agree, but I think that's what he was going for.

Depending on what timekeeping is like, there may not be any way to tell. If there are no clocks, and their time is only divided up by Kree announcements, they wouldn't even be able to scratch days out on a wall.

Pretty much. If they're on any time at all it's probably Hala time and even then I can't see the Kree distributing clocks or calendars.

That's what I mean. It's a pretty crappy place. If it's strategic, this low-rent station full of slaves isn't going to do them much good. I'm wondering if Kasius is really some kind of rogue who came in and took over so he could have a petty kingdom to lord over.
