Agents of Shield - Season 4

Glad to see that AOS was renewed. We're about a month behind here, but have really enjoyed this season so far.

and again the tv networks wonder why Australians are some of the biggest torrentors on the planet.

Agents of Shield has been left off ABC's fall lineup so the 5th season won't air until 2018. Infact based off "Inhumans" FUCKING terrible 9pm Friday slot, I imagine it will occupy Friday nights once it does return to wrap up its run.

The Inhumans slot astounds me, not only being on Friday Nights but after Once Upon A Time, which will be watched by about 12 people at the rate it's own ratings are going. Is there some sort of power struggle going on at ABC? with Disney Marvel execs wanting to push more Marvel shows and ABC execs trying to pull a FOX/Firefly and make it DOA.

Maybe they figure most of Shield's viewers watch it "not live" anyways, so if you're going to bury anything on Friday nights, might as well make it something people are at least going to watch later.

But yeah, not a great time slot. Very odd to debut Inhumans in theaters, and then dump it on Friday nights.

And just to note, there's a chance AOS will show up before 2018. While it's certainly the favorite to replace Inhumans on Friday, it's no guarantee.

That said, I think you're off base on the power struggle bit. If ABC didn't even want to air AOS or Inhumans, they wouldn't.

Yeah, Agents of Shield strength is always been in its Live + 7 numbers. Hell, those numbers a the only reason that got it got a fifth season at all.

Well, we have confirmation of both a full 22 episode season, and a Agents of Shield moving to Friday nights. ABC President says that they're trying to turn Friday nights into a "destination" night. Again, with Plus 7 numbers taken into account, the time slot won't matter much. Even if the show had stayed on Tuesday nights, I was expecting this to be the final season anyway.

Given that ABC is one of the few broadcast networks that has been adjusting its policies in terms of the way it takes into account "Live+" viewing numbers as an indicator of the current and future viability of its programming, the fact that both OUaT and Inhumans are airing on Fridays doesn't really strike me as being all that much of a concern.

A full 22-episode season is a pleasant surprise.
So it looks like we'll be seeing AOS by late November or early December.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this is the final season anyways. Hopefully, Jed Whedon and company get enough forewarning from ABC to know this is it so they can give the show a proper conclusion, like ABC did with LOST (albeit that was with greater forenotice).

More like January. Inhumans starts in late September and runs seven weeks, which bring us to mid-November, when networks tend to take holiday breaks.

It might work out better for both shows if they are not running together. It will help establish Inhumans as its own thing and allow AoS to either pick up on it or not. Also, it will allow AoS to run straight through, without long story-breaks.

And I think that they were prepared for tonight to be the final episode with how they've handled this last arc; bringing in old cast members for one final run and such. And if tonight were to have been the end, teaming up with Ghost Rider to save the world from Madame Hydra and MODOK would have been a good way to go out.

A question for when you people watch the episode

was the portal Robbie made suppose to be the same kind used in Doctor Strange? It had the same FX, except everything on the other side was blurry, not crystal clear like in the movie

Yeah. Difference here being the destination.
Robbie wasn't using his chain sling-ring to go from place to place on Earth, or to/from the mirror dimension. He was going to the Darkhold's native dimension. I guess that place is just a smoky hellhole. Ba-dum-ching.

As for the episode. Loved Robbie. Can we keep him? Please? Just one little Ghost Rider, that's all I want. Not bad otherwise. Great cliffhanger. Totally dreaming of unlikely cameos next season now. The AIDA plot ended kind of weak, and I saw the twists coming a mile off, as I expect did most. Not exactly subtle. Still, a solid conclusion.

Really, really curious about the discussion between Robbie and Coulson. That has to pay off somewhere later, I hope.

Really, are time slots even still a thing these days? If it's on, it can be DVR'd.
It depends on the show , audience and how they interact with other fans.

Technology has made it easy to watch a show at another time, but at the same time, tech allows people AROUND THE WORLD to instantaneously talk about a show while it is happening, as well as right after.

And shows like Talking Dead really thrive on the live experience (as well as their online live experience)

I'm disappointed that the Framework was destroyed. The characters talked about it as just an unreal program, but Radcliffe and Aida made it to be a simulation equal in detail and complexity to the real world. Which means the people should've been equal in complexity to real humans, and thus were sentient beings in every way that mattered. So by destroying the Framework, Ophelia committed the genocide of an entire species. I would've rather seen an ending that enabled them to live on somehow.
