Agents of Shield - Season 4

Sure, they've back out in the public eye now, so it makes sense Mace would want to do a bit of PR.

I think DEWLine's question was about whether they actually let the press into the tippy-top-secret headquarters. I'm not sure the interview was conducted in HQ, though; I had the impression it was in a TV studio.

I had assumed it was in the office, but I just wasn't that bothered by it. We see people doing interviews in their offices and homes all the time.

Yeah, but most people's offices and homes aren't super-tippy-top-secret undisclosed locations, like the Playground was established to be a while back. And in those photos, it does look like the Playground, the same brick walls.

We all know what the inside of the CIA's main headquarters don't we? Don't We!?!

Wait, we do.

Thanks Obama.

We do know where the CIA's offices are located, though -- an office complex in Langley, Virginia, as just about any work of fiction involving the CIA will frequently remind us. But as I said, the Playground is supposed to be an undisclosed location. It's an old SSR bunker left over from Agent Carter's day. Nobody outside of SHIELD was supposed to know where it was. Even Coulson had never heard of it until Fury pointed him in the right direction.

It's hard to imagine they can keep it a secret when official, though - particularly as they massively expand the size of their personnel.

As I just said, it was secret the last time SHIELD was an official organization -- even secret to most of SHIELD's own members. That's the only reason it survived the post-HYDRA government purge. Although I guess the difference is that it wasn't their main headquarters then. Now that it's their core facility, I suppose they kinda had to come out in the open with it.

I imagine that it's a budget thing (in world and out).
I was thinking maybe there were tech or power requirements that exclude it from being worn, like Daisy's braces, so it must be piggybacked on Coulson's prosthesis. He doesn't seem to use it much.

What's the battery life on Coulson's hand anyways? With and without the shield powered on? Does he have to put it in a charging stand overnight? :)

Does it use one of Fitz's super cell phone batteries? :rommie:

Probably, but it probably also constantly recharged itself Data-style.
Gyroscopic power generation?
So basically constantly converting Coulson's motion into electric energy to sustain the battery over the day?
Doing fancy tricks like the shield though, probably drains it almost immediately.

That's not how she's acting. She's acting like she was last season, as someone who's chosen to be alone because she believes that she brings suffering to the people around her. She doesn't see herself as the victim, she sees others as the victims of being around her. Which is objectively irrational, of course, but it's not implausible that someone who's had a lot of loved ones die around her would feel that way.
It kinda reminds me of a comic strip I once read where the characters in a world with robots note that if nuclear weapons were automated, then they would likely require massive quantities of therapy.

Agreed. Now that it seems that the Playground has to serve as the Triskelion did from 1989 to 2014, as the public HQ of the Division...and it's not as if they really bothered hiding the comings and goings of the Bus, assorted Quinjets and Zephyr One as it was...
