Agents of Shield - Season 4

If Simmons's avatar is dead in the framework, what happened to the real Simmons?

They said they found her Avatar, so I'm guessing she really isn't 'dead' in the Framework, but in that reality she faked her death.

Why did Skye waste her time fighting against Mace? So that the showrunners can display her fighting skills? It would have more logical for her to use her powers against him when the fight first began. This is so stupid.

She didn't have her gauntlets, she was trying to use her powers as sparingly as possible so she wouldn't break her bones.

As soon as I saw May in that exterior elevator, I knew it was the Triskelion before the camera zoomed out. I flashed back to the CapAm 2 elevator scene.

I will have to admit that every turn of the LMD arc surprised me. With my prediction that the last arc also had to have been planned as the series finale I should have known that one more head of the their eternal enemy Hydra would tie in. I wasn't expecting Brett Dalton, with Ward there I am thinking Bobbi is the Framework Fritz's trophy girl in the car. Maybe a fantasy Triplett will also come for the possible final call.

They also made a point of telling us that if you die there, you die for real...did Simmons punch her ticket just by going in?

I'm sure there'll be more to it, but it'll be something unusual. They didn't just throw in that she was dead there for nothing.

I'm guessing that HYDRA's in charge because in this altered virtual reality, Coulson's choice never to become an agent ultimately resulted in no Avengers.

I so hate that trope. It almost never makes any sense, and this time they didn't even bother to try explaining why it would be fatal to die in the Framework. I mean, isn't the whole point of the Framework to banish mortality? Radcliffe intended it to be a technological Heaven where everyone could live eternally. So why are there graves at all?

But then the world would've been conquered by Loki and the Chitauri. The divergence point would have to be sometime between then and The Winter Soldier.

Or maybe she'll wake up and find herself trapped in her virtual grave... eek.
Having Buffy Flashbacks

During the "Agents of SHIELD will return" it quickly flashes to a Hydra logo and it says 'Agents of Hydra'

Oh wow, count me among the many that loved that episode. Great twists, and shocking endings.

I was 50/50 between Triskelion and bridge of a helicarrier (until it pulled back a little and we saw it was an elevator, making it obvious), but I sure as heck wasn't expecting that giant Hydra logo.

So glad to see Grant Ward back.

So is this going to be a one-episode extraction, or will they spend half (or more)of their remaining episodes in there? Mack looks pretty happy.

And will Radcliff help them escape?

Dude, have you not seen the Matrix? The reason why you would die in real life, is because the simulation is so real, that your mind wouldn't know the difference. That's why you don't constantly doubt the reality of your reality. Like Neo, you would have to REALLLY REALLY believe that the fatal blow is fake, so your mind doesn't believe it, and gives up on itself. Again, this is a high level simulation, not like the cheap stuff we have now.

And Radcliffle's paradise is like the Matrix -- it has to be realistic enough so people don't question it. They know, deep down, people die in real life. so Graves would be normal. As for Simmons' grave.. that is the mystery.

And regarding the divergence point... for Coulson, it would have to be at the very beginning (like he said in dialogue) of his career... and since he wasn't around for Thor being exiled to Earth (and Loki knowing about our planet), then, maybe there was no invasion to begin with.

The Hydra thing -- not sure what that is about, or why May is OK with it? Maybe she's infiltrating? That's why she's operating "normally" -- she's "doing her job"?

Wow, that was an incredibly intense episode with a great focus on trust issues. The scene with Fitz and Simmons was especially harrowing even though I suspected from get go Fitz was the LMD. I had expected another level of confused trust with Yo-Yo, but instead of arriving at the SHIELD base, they picked her up at the end.

While this was easily one of the show's best episodes, I do have a couple of nitpicks: Daisy's absurd SHIELD t-shirt with its impractical wide neck and how the three SHIELD agents got to the Zephyr without passing May (if there was another entrance, why didn't Jemma and Daisy just leave May behind and go there?).

Maybe someone can clarify this for me, but I'm a little hazy about one aspect regarding the Framework and how it exists. How are Daisy and Jemma able to connect to it while in midair? Is it some kind of super-server that has an incredible Internet signal via satellites? How do they even know how to link up into it? I seem to recall something about how Fitz originally designed it, but how does Radcliffe now have access/control of it? Maybe this was already explained and I missed it or forgot.

Is this the last episode before the break? Is the rest of the season going to be about the Framework and the alternate world?
Yes, this is the final episode until April, unfortunately, and the final third does appear to be focused on the Framework.

I wasn't thrilled to see the return of Ward, although that is a little better than Lincoln. At least Brett Dalton is able to act well with the right material. I certainly hope that not only Bobbi, Hunter, and Triplett return, but also Deathlok, although that's probably asking for too much.

Damn! What an episode.
I was totally fooled by LMD Fitz right until he attacked Jemma.
I was convinced the LMD detector gave a false read out so people would stop trusting each other.
Poor Jemma. She really has been through hell and back twice over by now.

We saw Fitz-Simmons developing the Framework early in the season, and last week reminded us that they have their own version (remember, it opened with Coulson and Daisy fighting in VR). So Radcliffe is using the same technology. I believe it was mentioned at one point that Radcliffe and Aida's Framework is running in the cloud, on millions of computers all over the world like SETI at Home, because that's the only way it can have enough processing power to simulate the entire planet. So presumably anyone who has the Framework headsets and software can tap in -- or break in, presumably using Daisy's expertise as a hacker.

Which makes one wonder, how much processing power does the framework actually borrow from those computers around the world.
It must only be a tiny fraction because who would not get suspicious if their system is being busy running an evil VR instead of minecraft?
