Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

^In reference to existing characters in the comic, smart ass. :p

I still lean towards original character unless shown otherwise. I thought Lucy Lawless's character was an original character. I still think Rayna is an original character. On the other hand, the fact that they wouldn't say the doctor's name told me he was a comic character (and the hints that Skye had another name hinted to me she was a comics character). I'm not saying my record has been perfect (I thought Rosario Dawson would be an original character on Daredevil), but there's no reason an announced character with a name and some traits that aren't a surprise would be anything other than an original character.

Actually I'm pretty sure Raina isn't an original character at all. Or at least they've taken the name and some aspects of a comic book character and spun off a mostly original character from that, which would seem to be what they plan on doing to some extent. Case in point: Skye/Daisy/Quake.

Think along the lines of what the DCAU did with the likes of Mr Freeze, Clock King etc.

It feels like they're trying to distance themselves from the simple random villain of the week shtick. Especially after Scortch's great turn out (sarcasm) and with the retconned Deathlok and Daisy, the additions of Lauraly, Agent 33, and Koenig, that shadow guy and ice dude, and even the mentioning of Hell cow and Micro, it feels more like they want to dump the comics on the screen.

Actually I'm pretty sure Raina isn't an original character at all.

And that's specifically what I was disagreeing with when I said that. Raina looks nothing like that character (even in her transformed state), shares none of the characters origin, and there's good reason to believe that Marvel doesn't even have rights to the Savage Land. They also said they originally didn't have any long-term plans for the character and kept her because of the actress's performance. So that indicates they had no plan to turn her into an Inhuman at all (or give her any special powers), which defeats the point of making her a comicbook character with special powers.

I try not to assume every new character they announce is going to turn out to be someone from the comics, that way I won't be disapointed if they aren't. Sure sometimes it turns they are, like Skye/Daisy and her father, but that isn't always the case.

I wonder if the show will last up till season 3, the only time I care about this shows is when they make a film reference

Season 3 is all but official. None of the sites who track the data even list it as a bubble show. It's always in the green. So while some like to point out it's ratings are "only" in 'x' range they are clearly sufficient at this point.

yeah, the ratings are not good, but apparently 'good enough'.

Looks like Agent Carter will be canceled, though. (or at least not get a second season)

When in doubt, blame Loki.

I'm wondering if the Enchantress would be available. Or, if not, then would Lorelei have the ability to do that?

Personally, I think the show needs to bring the Warriors Three. I realize doing so may make the main cast guest stars on their own show but, if they're not going to do any more One-Shots, they need more screentime somewhere.

I'm big fan of Jamie Alexander's Sif, so I'm thrilled she's returning. Although I would have rather seen them bring in somebody from the movies we haven't seen on the show before, rather than bringing back a character.

Seeing Sif again will be cool. I've always wanted her to get more time in the Thor movies (along with the Warriors Three, of course), so its nice we get to see her on SHIELD for another episode.
