Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

Was I the only one that thought of the Navy stunt team when she mentioned the Blue Angels?

Well I'm British, so when I think military aerobatics I think "Red Arrows". ;)
Mind you with that logic you'd think it'd come to mind any time Roy Harper is depicted, though till now I hadn't made the connection.

Good point, Blue Angels is clearly US Navy. I was going to say US navy in my post and neglected to do so. I just never heard those two words together in any other context.

Really enjoyed this one. It did feel like it was mostly set up, but it was interesting set up.
I'm curious where they are going Skye and Raina. It sounds like Raina was almost a replacement for Skye, which kind of makes me wonder what will be come of her if/when The Doctor does get ahold of his daughter.
I really hope Mack isn't dead, I liked him.
I'm very curious what Mack and Bobbi were talking about. That definitely felt like a set up for something.
I have to admit, I was kind of surprised that that they found the city before the end of episode, I expected that to be the big cliffhanger.
It was nice to finally get definite official confirmation that we are dealing with the Kree here.

I have to ask, what happened to those advanced flying drones that Fitz used in "End of the Beginning" and why did he switch back to the dwarves?

I don't think that's ever going to happen... they can't seem to get Georgia Moffett
back on the show.

Probably simply because they needed a physical prop for Mac to pick up and is clearly dead. Pretty sure the other things were 100% CG.

I wish when the Hydra jet docked with the Bus the turret defenses would have popped up and blasted the two remaining jets, then they would just have to deal with the boarding party. Sending three guaranteed they could not kill all at the same moment, but the cocked one would not be able to do much when attached- or am I missing something...

I have a feeling the Bus can take them... awesomely. It does seem like an easy to deal with cliffhanger, especially comparing it to previous cliffhangers like "Ragtag".

I thought there were four jets around 616, but Ward is on one, he may eliminate some of the HYDRA jets himself. I think it's much more of a cliffhanger to see what happened to Mac.

I'm also wondering, if Skye is Daisy, then does that make her father the eventual Mr. Hyde?
That would be interesting to see.

That's half the justification for thinking she's Daisy is the thought that he might be Mister Hyde.

^One thing's fairly certain: When Skye finally meets up with her dad...one of the first things out of his mouth is quite possibly going to be her real name.

Place your bets for tonight.

It is, indeed, conjecture. It's conjecture based upon...real history, upon the basic values the U.S. and U.K. were fighting for in World War II.

Yeah...I'm curious as to how, say, the internment of Japanese-Americans fits with the "we were better because we didn't use their methods" argument.

Well. I'd say he cares about Skye. That's very different from caring for Skye. I'm more inclined to view Grant's feelings towards Skye as being controlling and emotionally abusive than about being genuine love.

Because you don't kidnap someone you love.

Again, the "methods" argument. As far as Ward's concerned, he loves her. He just has...a VERY bad way of showing it. But then, I'd imagine his betrayal kinda closed the "normal methods" door, locked it, and threw away the key.

Apologies for my comic-book ignorance, but: is Mack a comic book character?

But then, I doubt Mockingbird's got much of a target on her back.

I think both Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse have reasons to be concerned.

Thanks, and noted. This, is, after all, a Joss Whedon show.

Man, I really hope that Mack isn't dead. He's been a great friend to Fitz. :(

Again...this is a Joss Whedon show. The "great friend" characters tend to have the brightest targets on their backs.

I'm sure Reinhardt got a trial. I mean, are we supposed to believe that the Allies in the MCU gave Hermann Göring a trial, but not a commander in Hydra?
Well, to be cynical for a moment, a big difference between Göring and Reinhardt is that Göring was a known, public figure. Putting him on trial was a win-win for the Allies, both to show the world how guilty he was and how awesomely civilized we were.

Reinhardt, OTOH, was a member of a quasi-secret techno-cult sect. A lot easier to dump in a cell indefinitely with no one ever noticing, always on-call should interrogation ever prove desirable, and the flashback scene gave the pretty clear impression that that's exactly what was going on.

I don't for one second believe that Agent Carter would allow someone to be executed or imprisoned for life without a trial.
Perhaps her series will shed more light on this, but for now I find your abundance of faith... unwarranted.

Agreed. To be blunt, the entire sequence between her and Reinhardt gave a VERY clear implication that she was flexing her proverbial muscles as an intelligence operative--using such "black ops" discretion to lock him up and throw away the key (which...kinda blows apart the "with a trial" idea, doesn't it...?).

Again, I REALLY think, if that's the case, killing him would've been more efficient, but...I suppose she thought there MIGHT be a remote possibility that they MIGHT need him for information.

Or they already had the trial, and he was just trying to weasel out of the life sentence.

^Nah, there would've been a line or something to that effect, I'd think.

Okay. And here...we...go: The WINTER FINALE!!!

Act I:

Kick-butt, slam-bang beginning!

Coulson's acting like Mack's still alive. (And so do Fitz-Simmons.)

Nice to see "Dum-Dum" name-dropped.

More of Simmons finishing Fitz's sentences.

More reconciliation between Hunter and Mockingbird. (Aww...that hug. :)) Nice to see that exchange about the thumb drive.

Hey, May...like it or not, Ward HAS been helping, albeit weirdly. Killing him would've meant less "gifts".

And now...the moment of truth...!

(Funny note: my area's ABC had Samuel L. Jackson do the first commercial of this break--after SHIELD's Act I, we see Nick Fury in a mall decked out for Christmas, acting all excited!)
