Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

"It's always good to look your enemy in the eye."

Flashback to 1988 ... I did not see that coming. Now we know what happened to Skye's mother. Whitehall experimented on her and took away that which made her young. But wasn't it mentioned that her father (MacLachlan) was some kind of monster? I took it to mean he had super powers.

As for Ward, it seemed like what he did to his brother Christian was fueled by revenge rather than some other motive. They surely had a messed up childhood, enough too turn Grant into a murdering psychopath.

Yeah...and I'm deeply concerned the "confession" Ward planted will result in a destruction of Sen. Ward's credibility, as far as redeeming SHIELD's name goes.

Of course...how honest was he? Question for everyone: anyone think his confession to Ward was honest...or was he just saying it to get him to stop?

I don't think Sen. Ward was doing anything to redeem SHIELD's name, he still considered them terrorists.

And I think he was lying to Ward just so Ward wouldn't put him in the well.

I almost didn't recognize Dollhouse's Dichen Lachman as (presumably) Skye's mom. I think that this is the first time I've seen her when she wasn't blonde.

The speech he gave about SHIELD being the good guys....

Damn, that was a great episode!

Loved all the backstory we got on Whitehall and Skye's mom.

So Ward just murdered both his brother and his parents? Damn!

Skye's dad is batshit crazy. My jaw just about hit the floor when he showed up to save Triplett. And I could swear that was another crazy look on his face when he was talking with Ward at the end and Ward mentioned that Coulson's team is like family to him.

As to the question asked earlier tonight about why Coulson and Fitz weren't telling Skye <angry voice>THAT'S NOT HER NAME</angry voice> about her father, I think they were about to, Coulson was just searching for the right way to break it to her, but then got interrupted by the alert about the city.

And the city is apparently in the Caribbean. Go figure.

Really good episode. Just about everybody had something to do, and there were lots of interesting storylines going on.

Ugh, two fucking weeks until AoS returns!

Excellent episode! Oh wow, we had a lot to process!

I considered that. However, I think the intent was to show Grant Ward was right. They did that through the unsolicited piece of evidence he added at the end (his motivations for doing it). Generally speaking, people who confess but don't have any independent knowledge will then have to have reasons coaxed out of them and will often sound like they're guessing at a reason or looking for the interrogator to provide them one.

Granted, I don't think that's universally true and it's possible Christian wasn't telling the truth at the end, but I do think that was the intent in the way he phrased it.

I felt like I needed a nap after that episode. I love this show more and more each week, and I'm really looking forward to Agent Carter in January, although I'll miss SHIELD for eight weeks...

I was kinda disappointed Dichen Lachman more or less only got to scream and getting fridged after being harvested... That moment was... :wtf:

I've wanted more of her ever since Dollhouse.

The way I look at Ward is he's a mad dog killer and no one is holding his leash anymore. No one is really safe.

In the middle of the episode I was remembering last year how stiff he seemed. :)

If she's really Skye's mom, which it seems she is, we may yet see much more of her in flashback.

She's basically a sex doll hanging off this guy who looks like Thor in Last Ship.

She's just spent the last couple weeks on The 100 covered in Mud beating the shit out of some dim witted blond.

Dammit, I already have three shows I follow every week... :scream:

My favorite shot in the series so far, the pan around the jail cell as time passes. Very well done. And the award for worst German accent goes to.... So you have a death capsule implanted in your cheekbone and just hope it cracks when you smack your head on a table? Hope you dont get in a car crash.

That montage in the cell was very well done.

Yeah, I didn't buy that cyanide capsule in the cheekbone thing, either. How do you know you can hit yourself hard enough to break your own cheekbone? How does cyanide in your facial BONES make you foam at the mouth if you haven't actually swallowed the pill in the first place? Oh well. I guess the gist of it is that he killed himself-- it just seemed a bit lame to me.
