After Trek 11 replace TOS 1701 with prequel Enterprise

*wonders if a similar thread to this one was created after the Remastered episode Operation: Annihilate, which showed the Enterprise using newly developed doors undernearth the hull to launch mines that were not present in TOS.

Who sees the movie multiple times, buys the DVD, novel and toys tie-ins? Not the causal movie goer.
I have rarely seen a movie more than once in theatre, and it's been quite some time since I've done so. If I do really enjoy a film in theatre then I likely will buy the DVD. In fact the availability of the flm on DVD likely precludes paying to see the movie more than once in theatre--why should you when you can buy the DVD once and then see the picture as often as you wish? And it is the rare film indeed that will inspire me to be tie-in merchandise.

And I wasn't much different when I was younger even when DVD wasn't available.

I will likely see this film either at the theatre out of sheer curiosity or more likely on DVD. It's a long shot that I'd see it more than once and/or be moved to purchase tie-in merchandise.

Normal movie goers might buy the film if they think its good, if enough people think its good enough to buy then DVD sales will do well and you will have a new fan base

This is likely what they are hoping along with existing Trek fans doing the same (keeping in mind you cant please everybody)

The continual belief that this movie will magically turn into TOS is getting old though

Ya, the scream of "Charlie X"! "Charlie X"! is gettin old.

"The Cage" and "Where No Man" do exist for crying out loud.

I saw GENERATIONS four times in the theaters with four different sets of friends back in November and December of 1994. The movie did gangbusters here in my area and those four showings were mostly packed. Plus, TREK was still superpopular at the time with a lot of the general public because of TNG's historic final season and episode, DS9 starting its third year and VOYAGER just about to premiere.

I think the new original Enterprise should be Vektor's reimagining of the Enterprise over in the Trek Art forum! Check it out

I think the new enterprise will be the same as the one we already know. Do you all know what a teaser is? Do you know why it's called a teaser? :-P

Dont get ya, whats Charlie X, the Cage and WNMGB got to do with it?

Personally Id prefer Vektors as well

The biggest thing that bothers me about the new movie NCC-1701 is how huge those nacelle caps appear to be from the front. Like huge-ass wind tunnels or something. I'm hoping those get covered up by the time the ship is finished.

Could be.

And maybe the saucer section looks so gigantic to some eyes because of said perspective, and in reality J.J. Abrams is trying his best to stick to general canon about how the NCC-1701 is supposed to look.

Think this entire thread is kind of silly concidering we dont even know what the new Enterprise looks like yet, only an incomplete teaser that might not even be part of the film. Someone sure jumped the gun.

That said I cant stop myself from posting my thoughts here :-D

Ahhh...I've seen the teaser. :wtf:

We've seen ENOUGH of the ship to tell there have been minor tweaks to the external appearance that contradict/conflict with TOS, both original version and Remastered. So we can make preliminary judgments based on that.
