After seeing Pike in action, I would love a pre-TOS Enterprise show

Art is one of life's more important aspects, entertainment is what you watch when you don't have anything better to do.

They can be both. A lot of "art" is a swindle or at least a means of taking on an extra zero or two to the value of entertainment. Not in all cases of course.

Entertainment that has staying power becomes art? Perhaps a few hundred years from now Trek would be considered art, assuming it remains in public consciousness.

The essential quality of commercial art that makes it eternally in demand and profitable is its use as distraction.

Art in general has been described, if not defined, as "the expression of the unspoken." That's vague enough to be difficult to dispute.

What if Pike is in the rumoured Starfleet Academy show?

It would tie into the fact he was injured saving a ship full of cadets.

Well, so Peck was asked at PaleyFest if there have been discussions about him and Mount and Romjin continuing on aboard the Enterprise, at least maybe in an upcoming "Short Trek" episode (which last idea seems like a no-brainer, really, given that they've spent all that money on the necessary assets).

Peck's response was to laugh and reply "I can't say."

Which means there have been discussions.

Given what we know about the Enterprise-specific sets -- in particular the bridge (i.e. a full set with durable construction) -- it stands to reason that they're going to milk this cow for a while longer.

I would definitely like to see more of Pike and the Enterprise crew, although the design aesthetic of Discovery is more in keeping with Kirk's second post TMP 5 year mission. I'd like to see a modern take on the TMP uniforms and multiracial crew but rumour has it they are contractually obliged to change the ship and you shouldn't change perfection, so I'm torn.

OR, which means that they were instructed to say "I can't say." It almost never happens, but almost everyone discounts the idea of misdirection, until they don't. :techman:

Signed the petition.

You know, I'd like to see this but I doubt that CBS and Kurtzman are really up for it. What's about to happen, apparently, on STD suggests that they've decided that trying to work in a pre-TOS "prequel" format is not a great idea. Notably, the setting for that show was conceived by an executive producer who got the bum's rush early in production.

Signed.

I would LOVE a Pike series, with Spock, and Number One. And yes, I still like Discovery.

I'm willing to do the extra work I'll have to do writing news if we could have that series. So worth it.

Signed. (Then immediately unsubscribed to stop their e-mails. We'll see in the next 48 hours...one second to get subscribed and 48 hours to get unsubscribed. WTF? :wtf: )
