Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

I bet it has nothing to do with anything previously made.

Why?

because then it would be doing a remake essentially.

Besides Nero had 25 years to completely muck up the rest of the universe. People who suddenly never were born. things that were suddenly not done. Events that were changed by missing people or things. Not to mention new people and things that wouldn't have existed normally. The further out you go the more things will be different.

Besides anything redone would be just that a remake. Granted with a slightly new spin on it but I think they will want to keep this slightly away from the rest of trek for fear of losing the new fanbase from this movie.

Re: A question regarding a new movie/series in original reality

I doubt they will make another movie or series in the original timeline.

I am of the opinion it was dying for lack of a profitable fanbase and terrible ratings.

Also why would they drop this new timeline they just created that is making them alot of money.

Be like going back to your old beater car since you feel nostaligic about it rather then keeping the new car you just dropped a lot of cash in and its a popular car.

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

I don't care who the villain is, but I wanna see Kirk screw up royally because of his inexperiance and really lose command of the Enterprise for most of the movie...

Perhaps even ending Trek XII with him NOT getting the Gray Lady back...
(now there's a cliff-hanger...)

That would be a perfect excuse for him to have to spend a bit of time back on earth being involved with the ghosts of his past, in this alternate reality...

Any or all of the below would be interesting...

Seeing Carol Marcus... Meeting Gary Mitchell... Having to deal with Admiral Finnagan... Fighting with the Admiralty to get his command back... Highjacking a ship to get to where the Enterprise is... ...etc...

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

Who is to say a ancestor of picard wasn't killed during the movie. For all we know now the one who would have caused his father to meet his mother will never be born and thus no picard.

Re: A question regarding a new movie/series in original reality

I'm not saying they are going to revert back to the original reality. I'm simply asking a "what if." If they did decide to make one, and it coincided with the stardate Spock Prime gave for the destruction of Romulus, would they need to work it into the canon of their Trek?

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

Okay. How about Kiefer Sutherland playing the Star Fleet officer that starts Section 31?

Anything with Kiefer would be awesome.

He'd play a great Doomsday Machine Matt Dekker.

IMO, A Senior Staffer Should Die in XII

After Voyager (Kes doesn't count) and Enterprise, I'm sick of ships that bestow immortality on their senior staff. Hell, The West Wing killed off one lead (when the actor died, true, but still) and two very prominent supporting characters, and they weren't even carrying phasers! :p

Besides, it's the Secondary/non-Prime universe anyway. So, imo, someone's gotta go... take one for the team, and give the next movie its heft. :techman:

The question is who. The Big Three are pretty much indispensable, and as dramatic as an Uhura death would be, let's not kill the black sci-fi character first.

As the youngun, Chekhov would be obvious, but doable. Scotty would be plenty poignant, but a Classic crew without that brogue would doubtless be less fun.

... Then there's Sulu. If he were revealed to be gay, that would give him a pass (see Uhura). And what with the global composition of humanity, it'd be a shame to lose the only Asian, but he still strikes me as the probable best candidate.

Unless one'd go for Bones. That would be gutsy, but it could work.

A puzzler, indeed! Thoughts? :)

Any chance that...

Kathryn Janeway's Grandfather was on One of those ships heading to Vulcan? Just asking...

Re: IMO, A Senior Staffer Should Die in XII

First Vulcan and now the primary cast? :(

How grimdark can you get? They might as well Warhammer 40kify the next movie if they did that :p

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

Offing Vulcan was a bold and perhaps movie-saving choice, but my point about senior staffs remains. And - let's be honest - Vulcan's destruction probably didn't mean much to non-Trekkies, especially given how quickly the story moved on. Offing a classic character could go a long way to combating sequel fatigue in the general public. The Dark Knight, imo, is a master-case in point.

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

Tholians. Always the bridesmaid of TOS villains, I think it's time they got their due. Higher technology than the Federation, weird, inscrutable, highly intelligent, and very little is known about them. Granted, they feel at home in super high temperatures, so Kirk won't be fighting them hand to hand, but they would make great "string puller" villains, working through amoral or coerced human (or Andorian, or Tellerite, or Vulcan) agents to achieve nasty ends; i.e., that character would be the one Kirk gets to fist fight. Properly done, they could be pretty terrifying alien bad guys.

Killing off key characters tends to backfire in movie franchaises; especially if theyre fan favorites;

Ie: Prof X and Cyclops in X3

I think the only one expendible now is... Pike (sadly)

They do have badass potential as 'string pulling villains' indeed.

I would have prefered Season 3 of Enterprise to involve them and the Romulans; as opposed to the Xindi.

Re: Any chance that...

What a terrible thing to say. I mean, you're suggesting that Katie won't even EXIST in this new timeline.

And wouldn't....*snicker*....that be a *snorch*....shame?

:guffaw:

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

Rainn Wilson (Dwight from the office) would make an excellent rougue commander.

Christopher Walken. Does evil well. Although he is an A List actor, he'll do anything as long as he gets paid.

Re: What do you want to see/what actors in Star Trek XII?

You know what might be neat? A Cardassian movie. They're obviously known to our Starfleet friends. Could be interesting to see what they were up to in this century.
