Instead of Khan in a sequel.. how bout...
Bring Kirk Prime into play, with Shatner playing him. But before you guys all snicker and say no.
What if Kirk Prime runs into Young Spock, and even Spock prime, and along the way both Spocks start to get a bad feeling about the elder Kirk and sense he is up to no good. From there you end up reintroducing EVIL KIRK from the mirror universe episode.
I don't care what anyone says, I always thought there was a huge opportunity lost when none of the other films did a movie with mirror universe characters and implications.
Shatner would be perfect playing the bad guy at this point in his career. Why try to replace the irreplaceable Ricardo Montalban/Khan character when you can do a story like this?

Star Trek XI hasn't even been out for 2 months yet, and we've already started the "Bring Shat back for XII!!!" campaign.
I say no. Nimoy was used to help "pass the torch" to the new group. I say we leave the new actors alone to do their own thing. No more throwback actors from TOS. Especially something like that.

Um, no. I'm sure it would be nearly impossible for Shatner to refrain from hamming it up and going COMPLETELY over the top as a villain. lol
Plus audiences are still getting used to THIS alternate universe. The last thing they need to do right now is introduce another.

I think they need to stay away from Khan right now. I would like to see something new. However if they are going to take something from the original series, I would steal the following ideas:
Balance of Terror, but make it a Klingon ship with (Kang or Kor)
Piece of the Action
Return of the Archons (if they want to do some social commentary on Obama and celebrity culture)
Operation Anhiliate
Ultimate Computer
Where No Man Has Gone Before
Errand of Mercy
Elaan of Troyius
This Side of Paradise
Paradise Syndrome
Tholian Web

3 VILLANS 1 DEATH AND NO KHAN ?
Yes i,ve been thinkin alot about the next star trek film. Here are some of my thoughts.
1. Why not have three bad guys and yes there KLINGONS KOR KANG AND KOLOTH .
It would be nice 2 have some backstory on how and why kirk hates them so much and why the KLINGONS hate kirk so much .
2. Got 2 have a shock death in the next film . ( It worked in TWOK )
3. And please please please no KHAN !!!! No one can match the acting of the late RIC !!!
4. Thats it i,m ready 2 take it on the chin.

My instinctual nerd answer: Well, if the new timeline is anything like the original timeline, the Excelsior is still a couple decades away.
My actual answer: sure, why not. It'd be interesting to see a new take on the Excelsior class.

I love Shatner. i love him more than words could say (at least MY words).
BUT
i do NOT want to see him in the next movie.
I think a young Colonel Chang might be fun. Or one of the Klingons from the original series...
