I was thinking, would a T.V. series detailing the struggles that the Changelings went through in regards to being hunted and killed during their missions of roaming the galaxy and searching out other races so they could add to their knowledge, be an interesting T.V. series?

Perhaps as an animated anthology, and we see different situations with different characters over the centuries. And all the while, there is the female changeling who would eventually become the Dominion leader we know so well from DS9, becoming more and more distrustful of the solids through all of these disastrous encounters.

I'm not sure I'd want to see their rise (or rather: decline) to genocidal fascists, to be honest. Focussing on one or a group of changelings that were sent out into the galaxy as infants like Odo could be a cool concept, though.

It's not anything I'm clamoring for, but had to vote yes as of course I'd watch a new Star Trek series.

Should change the question in terms of asking if you think such a idea would be a good one. Clearly everyone will give any new Trek show a chance no matter the premise. That goes with the territory of being a Trek fan.

No, I don't need a villain origin story.
But then again I do want a comic strip about a middle-management Vorta doing paperwork and signing requisition orders in the style of "Chief O'Brien at Work", so what do I know.

Doesn't sound like that great of a premise, to be honest. But it's still better than a show about Section 31.
I emphatically agree, although "better than a show about Section 31" is "damning with faint praise" indeed. Simultaneous root canal work and hemorrhoid surgery would be "better than a show about Section 31" (which would itself amount to a "villain origin story").

The downside would be that we know how it ends.

I'm not sure if this would be an appropriate "Star Trek" series, but I would love a prequel series showing the birth of the Dominion. Maybe that is something Prodigy might cover:
Maybe not the birth of the Dominion but they are now close to Dominion Space than where they were
. Honestly, I would love a Trek series that even references the Dominion again because of all the races that appeared in Trek, the Dominion might have been the most fascinating, in terms of overall culture and the three tiered society. It's probably one of the reasons I also liked the Xindi, because they were a 5 race society.

Doubtful. Now if it was Odo living in a little town called Cadot Cove on Bajor where he wound up having to solve a different murder each week, that I'd watch for 12 seasons.

I was surprised to find out the real reason the 100 changelings were sent out was actually nothing to do with gaining knowledge living among other alien species.

It's revealed in the DS9 Relaunch novel called 'The Dominion: Olympus Descending'. I'd recommend the book as it was nice to follow Odo again doing an investigation just like the good old days.
