A more "serious" version of "Lower Decks"?

Star Trek is at its absolute worst when it takes itself too seriously.

I don't think you fully grasp the concept of taking oneself too seriously.

I am right. WOK doesn't take itself too seriously. There are several moments throughout the film where Meyer deliberately winks at the audience.

Most of the others you listed still manage enough levity to show they're self-aware enough to address the ray guns and green women in the room.

Really? Point out the levity in "The Drumhead". I'll pull up a chair.

Star Trek is at its absolute worst when it takes itself too seriously.

Star Trek works best when it acts like a serious sci-fi show and not Rick and Morty featuring Star Trek.

Winks at the audience are fine. "HERE'S A REFERENCE FROM TOS, HERES A REFERECNE FROM TNG, REMEMBER SUB ROSA?!!!" is just :barf2:. I think comedy works best when a show takes its premise seriously (The Office for example). The crew of the Cerritos knows they are in a Star Trek show and act accordingly.

You do this almost every week and with each new episode.

Is there some misconception on your part that we don’t understand your position in these matters? Because it feels awfully repetitive

Perhaps just needing validation of the point of view? Especially since it appears to be in the minority POV? I can at least appreciate that since I hold a number of points of view that would be considered minority in the Trek community.

Just trying to find other people who think the way I do. I feel VERY alone on this board. I’ve seen people give these episodes 10 out of 10. Lower Decks is on the same level as City on the Edge of Forever, Duet, Inner Light, The Visitor, and others? “Blast shields go up and own, BLAST SHIELD”. Really?
