A Medical Update

It has been several months since the last one now and I have refrained from giving an update because really nothing has really changed for me, until I found out yesterday that I'll be finally returning to physiotherapy in Jan. My therapist is returning from her maternity leave and found out that I have coverage through my disability for ten free sessions. When that expires I am eligible for a reduced rate of around ten or fifteen bucks when the regular rate is I think $45 Canadian. This has been a long time coming for me. I will most likely need a re-assessment done on my twisted pelvis...self-measuring I've got about a two centimetre gait. It is twisted downwards to the left and raised up to the right.

The pelvis is the main problem right now. My foot has been pretty fantastic since the surgery I had in 08 to repair broken pins. Everything else that is wrong with me physically though has kind of happened thanks to the foot. I've been dealing with the pain with T3's and ibuprofen which help somewhat but it really makes it difficult to move around and especially exercise. I've ballooned up weight wise over the last couple of months after losing nearly 20 pounds over the spring and summer time.

Hopefully the physiotherapy will be enough to realign the pelvis...it's so bad that on occasion I can feel the pubic bone rub up against the pelvis. Everything else is fine though for those who know what I'm talking about.

^^ That's good to hear. Sounds like the pelvis is the only real issue remaining. Hopefully the physical therapy will straighten that out (so to speak). I'm glad to hear that there is financial assistance available for that. :bolian:

Sounds, good, Admiral. I hope the physiotherapy does everything for you that you want it to. I'm hoping to start my own soon.

Sounds good. I hope you aren't in too much pain... because that would not be fun. Hopefully by this time next year it will all be resolved and you'll be able to get back to your writing!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad that your other issues have seemed to finally work themselves out. Hopefully after some of this therapy you will be feeling even better!

Thanks everyone...as for the pain...yeah I'm in a lot of pain. I have an extremely high pain threshold. Doctors have stated it is unusual for it to be as high as it is...I guess that's a compliment of some kind. I have good days which means I can move and do stuff I need to do and I have bad days...which aren't great at all. It can be a chore to get out of bed sometimes.

Instead of creating another thread, I thought I'd just update this one. I finally have started physio as of last week, already have had two appointments and this is exactly what I needed. Already is making a huge difference with my pelvis re-alignment. I didn't think it would right off the bat, but it has. Probably will need at least a good couple months worth of what I'm doing right now before I get any actual results but as far as pain there's been a noticeable difference.

Admiral_Young, do you mind if I ask what all these maladies stem from?

I don't mind if you don't want it public or don't want to answer, I wouldn't be offended at all, and apologize if the question is an uncomfortable one.

Club right foot...well club feet...but my right foot is deformed. I had surgeries done on it in 07 to reconstruct it and in 08 to repair broken pins. I have basically chronic back with mild arthritis in most of my bones and joints. The pelvis misalignment is a direct result from the foot, there's about a two centimetre gait. The left side droops downwards, while the the right side is jammed upwards and pulled to the right. If I was a swivel chair I'd be twisted on it's side if the chair was straight (dunno if that analogy works or not lol). The body being connected and all that :) That famous song about all your parts being connected???? Truer than you know as I've come to find out.

So this is a congenital problem, not the result of an accident or something?

All the parts of the body are indeed connected. For example, not walking or sitting right can cause muscle pain in the back. To avoid the pain, you coddle the area or avoid using it, putting stress on other parts of your body which can cause other problems...it can be a never ending cycle unless you get the care you need.

Thank goodness you're in Canada, where we have a lot of the help we need provided in some manageable way. My thoughts are with you. :)

Yeah physio has been a Rao-send so far...something I have been waiting for a while, had to wait to get approved by disability (I'm not on full yet, so it was a bit of a hassle waiting to be approved for this), and yes, this has been a problem since birth, but really has accelerated in the last few years. I'm 32 but feel like 82 :(
