CONGRATULATIONS! he's now a MAN NERD!So tonight I'm watching TOS-R with my 12 year old. He's seen the first season of TOS, all of VOY, all of ENT and the first 2 seasons of DS9 (and half the movies and TAS). We're watching "The Changeling". Nomad takes control of the ship and increases the speed to warp 9, warp 10, warp 11..
AND THE KID FREAKS OUT!
"They can't go past warp 10, what about Threshold?! Why was that the threshold in Threshold if they already went to warp 11 in TOS?!"
hahahaha..
So is there any in-universe answer to this one? He was not satisfied with my answer of "VOY ignored this and was in error".
Actually, a lot of TV shows lack continuity in their own series. A good example is the TV show MASH. In the early seasons, Hawkeye had a sister, then later, he was an only child. Dr Freedman's first name in his initial appearance was Milton, the changed to Sydney. Colonel Blake's wife was first Mildred, and then changed to Lorraine. The dates of the TV show was all screwed up too. For example, they did four Christmas episodes, however, the Korean War was only three years long.
Tell the kid that TOS was written by a bunch of old school hack writers who drank scotch and chain smoked. No one in 1966 ever dreamed that this show was going to be a over forty year phenomenom. Was going to be something like "Lost in Space". This was also decades before the internet, when and where writers can be corrected of their work. There were only three stations back in the day, much less competition.
He can learn all about those old hacks and Hollywood later.
To confuse matters further, Col. Potter's wife was also named Mildred.Colonel Blake's wife was first Mildred, and then changed to Lorraine.
He didn't even wait for the body to be found, did he?To confuse matters further, Col. Potter's wife was also named Mildred.Colonel Blake's wife was first Mildred, and then changed to Lorraine.
