Here's something that really bothered me when I watched that I don't believe I didn't mention before.

Did the Doctor say, "disorientated?" Twice?

That's not a real word, is it? It's disoriented, right? Or is this a British thing?
This one is my grammar nazi thing.

Knowing which way you're facing is one thing.

Not knowing where/what who you are is another.

Orientation.
Disoriented.

Grrrrrr.:klingon:

Then you're an incorrect grammar nazi.

Both are acceptable usage, so you can't be presciptive.

orient/orientate: arrange eastwards, by extension to get one's bearings

disorient/disorientate: move away from eastwards, by extension to lose one's bearings.

We aren't french, we make up words as we go along. Anyway It's "real" and is a transitive verb:

a usually transient state of confusion especially as to time, place, or identity often as a result of disease or drugs.

Probably the same kind of race where the top three runners get medalled.

'Disoriented' is the one that sounds wrong to me. Then again, I'm Welsh.

I say fie, to you, madame, fie!

And now I shall say, good day!

Well, I finally saw the episode yesterday and I really enjoyed it because it was wonderfully old school Who. Rory got a lot to do and stood up against not just The Doctor, but Amy, too. I haven't read the thread yet, but I hope people aren't getting the impression that Rory has feelings for Jennifer (thus creating an absurd and unnecessary triangle) because I certainly don't get that impression. Rather, I see Rory standing up for what he thinks is right and the gender of who he's helping is inconsequential.

I was a bit disappointed by the ending because it was telegraphed throughout the episode (and if you're to believe the theories about how to resolve The Doctor's death), so I wasn't surprised by the "big" reveal. In fact, I was hoping for a different cliffhanger: that from the time the solar storm struck, Amy, Rory and The Doctor we've been following were gangers and that the whole episode played out just like Big Finish's The Natural History of Fear. That being said, I won't judge the episode for what it wasn't and what I hoped for.

Overall, good episode but I won't vote until I see the second part.

Edit to add: Matthew Graham proved (again, because he had some great episodes on Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes) that "Fear Her" was a bit situation all around but wasn't really his fault. Also, I loved seeing Marshall Lancaster (Chris on the aforementioned shows) but I hope he gets more to do in the next episode.

Final numbers are in...

The Rebel Flesh - 7.35 million and 34.1% share

Thats the 2nd lowest viewers total this season and the lowest share number this season. However more than 1 in 3 of the UK audience is still great stuff + I player numbers always add plenty to the total by the end of the season's run. The numbers include those who watched within 7 days of its LIVE airing via means of Digital recording boxes (Sky/Virgin + for example) but do NOT include I player numbers which BARB do NOT hold records off, thats the job of the BBC.

I am expecting 6.5-7 million for The Almost People but expect an increase in the I player numbers.

.

I agree that was rorys motivation. Good to see they didnt go for some boring love triangle angle and that amy wasn't jealous. The plot thickens i look forward to seeing how this pans out.
