If I remember correctly Rory says something like that he 'traveled' with the Doctor. Past sense. Then the Doctor drops Amy and Rory of in front of their blue house. Could they be in a time loop? Forgetting somehow what happened before and reading books where the Doctor pops up now and again. Are they going to receive a blue envelop in a couple of months and travel to America? Where it al starts over again. That would kinda explain why the series began with Rory and Amy inside their house instead of in the blue box with the Doctor.

I would say that that's likely but the door in The Impossible Astronaut isn't blue

maybe they got a new double glazed door

I didn't think they were seeing things they had faith in; it was things they were scared of that forced them to turn to the thing they have the most faith in.

e.g the weeping angels for amy, she had faith the doctor would save her from them

And there's no glass, on the door or next to it. Just saying.

Best episode of series 6, and not just best but A++ territory. I would say this is one of the best episodes of all of Doctor Who.

I don't know what to make of that one. I liked that the Doctor was very Doctor-y and the very surprising send-off (permanent? can't be...) of the companions was moving as was the girl's fate.

Much of it was weird though like why a minotaur? or an 80's hotel? and how does this replacing faith work exactly? how does it pick up new residents? I might need another watch, that is if those are explained at all.

Also, this episode would've probably worked better without that dollhouse episode kind of mining the same territory.

Four stars up till the Doctor's quiet talk with Rory toward the end about fear and from there it becomes five for the rest, which was a great follow up to 'The Girl who Waited'.

Rory's car is a Jaguar E-Type. In other words, he has awesome taste. And likes mechanics a lot.

The first half or so of this one was merely okay, but the second half really kicked into high-gear and got pretty damn good. I was surprised to see Amy and Rory leave at the end, too.

Really, really, really great episode. The show is on a roll these last few weeks. Seeing the Doctor have time for quiet, meaningful conversations made me fall in love with the show all over again.

What a fantastic episode. Chilling, suspenseful, emotional, funny, and revealing. Everything I hope for from a Doctor Who episode.

As I said at the beginning of the thread, I got a strong The Shining vibe from the trailer and I certainly felt that throughout the entirety of the episode. The endless decorative 80's hotel hallways, the pictures as final resting places for people who have died, and the atmospheric music (although not quite as chilling as Wendy Carlos' score, but just as evocative). All that was missing was an elevator of blood but I didn't expect that from a family show.

I loved how everyone, including The Doctor (and us), thought the creature feed on fear and wasn't until Rita valiantly sacrificed herself ("Let me be robbed of my faith in private") did we see the truth. The truth that had been staring us in the face with Amy's repeated assertions that The Doctor will save them.

When The Doctor was telling Amy to stop having faith in him to save her, I was reminded of how The Fourth Doctor deliberately made Sarah Jane angry to get her out of a tight ventilation shaft in The Ark in Space. He hurtfully lied to both of them to save them. Oddly enough, I was reminded of Sarah Jane again when Amy said "You can't just drop me off at my house and say goodbye like we shared a cab."

When The Doctor first peaked into his room and saw his fear, I immediately believed what he saw was his own mortality. However, during his tearful goodbye to Amy, I think he saw the mortality of his companions. Not just Amy and Rory, but all of them.

Regarding Amy:

There's a lot more Amy Pond to come.

When Zap2it met up with "Doctor Who" star Karen Gillan on the show's Comic-Con red carpet, one of the first things on our mind was if the recent Season 7 pick-up of 14 episodes would include her character.

"I am going to come back, yes," Gillan tells us. "That's the first time I've said that today!"

Up until now, only Doctor Matt Smith had been confirmed to reprise the titular role, and speculation that Gillan would be making way for another companion was further fueled last week when she was cast in the upcoming West End revival of the John Osborne play "Inadmissible Evidence."

But the role is clearly something she's holding onto -- especially after her first trip to Comic-Con.

Excellent episode. This season is really turning out to be potentially the best ever, IMO. From the geek out reference to the Nimon to the mystery over who the Doctor saw in that room, the "companion who might have been" in Rita or whatever her name was. Even the companion departure was handled well, even though we know it won't be permanent. Very atmospheric - I agree with the Shining vibe. The only let down was the monster was way too obviously a guy in a suit. It was a nice throwback to the way things were done in the original series, but a bit out of place here. Most remarkable scene was the Doctor throwing a tantrum. That was genuinely disturbing.

With such a strong string of episodes since the show returned (and, really, the string for the season is unbroken - the pirates episode wasn't THAT bad), the last 2 parts have a lot to live up to. It's gonna be a fun couple of weeks.

I voted Average (not a bad one) though I am now leaning towards Above Average. I do wonder what the Doctor saw and where does his faith come from? his friends I'll say. Next week does look good though I do wonder if going right into the final episode would of been better coming off what just happened. I also wonder if next season and the 50th year after will have no regular companions with him because he knows the longer people stay with him the greater risk of there own death...

Though saying that, it makes me want to see him spend time with Jack and also his daughter because they look for danger with or without him and are very capable of taking care of themselves

TBH I am starting to wonder if that maybe a lie, same for Rory as well, that or the role is limited.

As to what was in the Doctors room, I did think it was the TARDIS blowing up, but yeah his companions (and all those who ever trusted him, who have died) morality.
