Been having a hard time getting into 3D stuff outside of work lately for multiple reasons. I have worked on-and-off in like 4 different rooms but I can't seem to stick with any one of them for more a weekend. Posting this in the hopes that it pressures me into finishing it hahaha.
My backstory for Fontana Station is that it's a starbase built in orbit of Babel to host diplomatic conferences in the TOS movies era. To that end, I always envisioned it having very utilitarian looking Starfleet areas, and more comfortable looking civilian areas for all the diplomatic stuff. I started to built what would be one of its main conference rooms, with the style taken from the Enterprise-A lounge seen in The Final Frontier.
The table is obviously based on the TUC Starfleet HQ table, and will have similar details (like the Jazz table lights) added later. I might replace the chairs too for the TUC designs. At one end of the room right now I have a couple auxiliary tables alongside the UFP and Starfleet flags. I intend to have 6 or 7 flags on their own along the opposite wall representing various political entities, mostly taken from TUC's Khitomer Conference scene I'd imagine.
I'd likely also have a more decorative ceiling structure, and perhaps some retractable screens at the center of the room, I'm not sure yet.
It would be awfully huge, so you'd probably want to add other elements to that central ceiling area, but I was thinking maybe you could do something inspired by the glass dome with the UFP logo they had on the roof of the turbolift of the Enterprise-B.
This is a great start, and I'm glad to see you working on your own stuff again.
I decided to add a holographic projector on the floor at the center of the room, given that I had already included one in Ops. By default it shows a large planter to occupy that center space, but it can obviously remove said planter and show floating screens or comm-links if needed. I intend to refine the colors and light intensity of the projectors once the overall lighting of the room is more dialed in.
I also started with the central ceiling piece, based on the similar piece from the TUC Enterprise-A observation lounge set. It's still very early and I need to add a ton of details to it (and to the ceiling surrounding it), but it gives an idea of where I'm going.
