3D interiors in Blender

I was wondering what they put on the front of it. I was having trouble finding a pic, and was assuming it was some sort of sound insulation similar to what was used on the walls.

Yeah, they did use those plastic things as set dressing in front of the transporter console on Voyager, but I wanted to avoid it here if possible, as I don't really like how it looks in this Ent-E inspired aesthetic, even if the Ent-E sets themselves did use a ton of this stuff. I ended up going with a rather simple metallic panel down the middle, identical to what I did for the similar wall around the warp core on the engineering set. I repeated the same thing on the other side of the wall.

Also, thanks to those references @Nays sent my way, I redid the whole top of the transporter pad to be more accurate. I also changed the color of some of the lighting to blue, simply because I think it looks better and matches the lights on the pad itself.

@CaptainSerek: Thanks!

I've added the final touches to the transporter area, with the fabric panels near the bottom now in place. I didn't want to reuse the same pattern these had on the Defiant, as those were made to mirror the similar patterns elsewhere on the ship. So I went with a design that's reminiscent of the fabric patterns on the bridge, but vertical instead of horizontal. These are also much flatter than the ones on the Defiant, again to better mirror the rest of the Ent-E inspired aesthetic.

So I think the room's finished now! I've experimented with some further tweaks, such as adding those lit translucent elements between the aft wall panels that the Voyager/Ent-E transporter had, but given that there's only room for two of them here, they didn't look good IMO.

Just had this thought, maybe next transporter room ..
Maybe a "Store Room" or some shelves with some equpment like Phasers, backpacks, Space suits, envionmental suits, breather units, heavy jackets, etc. ?? Just a thought.

Looks great!

Been three months huh? Real life has been a pain lately due to several issues so I haven't been keeping up with forums and such, nor did I have the drive to tackle big projects. Still, given that I have bills to pay, I've been working on small commissions. here's what I've been doing these past few months (large image dump ahead, sorry):

Alternate USS Emmett Till bridge: a modified version of the Emmett Till bridge, but using (mostly) the colors of the Enterprise-E interiors and leaving only the Captain's chair in the command area.

USS Kepler NCC-11157 bridge: a modification on the USS Hack bridge, the Kepler's an old Ent-C era Aerie-Class ship (same as the Raven from Voyager) which was updated over 60 years, and thus is a mishmash of eras.

USS Cassini NCC-3824-C bridge: almost identical to the USS Potemkin bridge, the Cassini features two command chairs side by side and a tactical station behind them.

USS Frontier NCC-75027 bridge: a further development of the USS Lexington-B bridge, the Frontier features two stations at each side of the MSD at the back, and thus smaller door alcoves at the rear end of the bridge. It also has a new helm console, which takes the standalone conn/ops stations from the Emmett Till and merges them into one, with shorter keyboard areas and a new center panel with a status display for the ship.

Also, given the amount of sets that are on my portfolio already, you can see that most of these weren't added there, simply because they're too similar to other rooms. I've been playing around with the idea of doing a proper website to display my starship interiors (only the personal projects, not the commissions), and came up with this mockup. Clicking each cutaway would take you to a page for each room with all the renders and such. Still no idea how I would implement this, but it's been fun designing it so whatever:

The U.S.S. Kepler bridge is small enough to actually be built as a fan set. It'd be cool if someone tried.

The U.S.S. Frontier is the opposite, not being very space efficient, although I do like the layout and color scheme quite a bit. Of the four bridges, I find it the most aesthetically pleasing.

The U.S.S. Emmet Till bridge feels like it would make more sense if the Captain's chair was where the UPF logo is. That way, the Captain would be at the center of the bridge, and all of the consoles would face either directly towards or away from them.

The lowest level on the U.S.S. Cassini bridge is entirely pointless because there's nothing there. It's a total waste of bridge space. Maybe it would make sense if the two forward consoles where down there, but as it stands, it serves no logical purpose.

Same wasted space that's in the TOS bridge, the TMP refit bridge and the TFF/TUC bridge.

These are all gorgeous. Sorry you're having a rough go of it. I'm kind of in the same boat but it's all day job issues. MEH. I hope you can pull out of them soon though. Been missing your work!

Fair enough, although I still have concerns about how crowded the middle tier is.
There's two command chairs instead of one, and they aren't raised a step from the conn/ops stations, but it's not really any more crowded than the Excelsior bridge in TUC. Here's some overhead shots from the shockwave scene for comparison (HD, SD). And if you compare those to Rekkert's renders from the Potemkin (which gives some additional angles), the conn/ops stations look like they're positioned in roughly the same place as their 23rd century counterparts.

Is it me, or are people responding to my comment that a particular bridge feature doesn't make sense by basically saying "lots of Star Trek bridges don't make sense"...

Yeah, pretty much. Rekkert is just being consistent with a design language that's been in place since the original pilot and more or less respected by subsequent production designers for almost 60 years, so any criticisms about how the space is used should be directed at Matt Jefferies. Would you like me to get you an Ouija board? ;)

Besides the fact that, as stated, that empty space is something of a staple of Constitution-derived bridges in Trek; I'd like to point out that, as always when it comes to commissions, I can give suggestions and alternatives but at the end of the day the entire look and layout of the room is the client's choice to make, not mine.
