Spoilers 31st/32nd Century Ships Revealed

No way in hell the Tikhov's systems weren't regularly upgraded, at least until the Burn, if it was even the same ship, as hinted at by the holographic interfaces for example.

The problem with the ‘same ship being constantly upgraded’ theory is that Starfleet usually doesn’t add a letter suffix to the end of a registry if it’s the same ship; they only do that if it’s a new ship with the same registry. So despite the dialogue, this particular Tikhov seems to be the 14th ship with that name and registry, implying it’s a 32nd century ship.

Yeah, i also think that it is a newer vessel, maybe even from the 31rst century.

My point was simply that it can't be exactly the same Tikhov that the Discovery crew knew about.

And it need not be even approximately same. Might be technological and doctrinal changes have made all the difference over the centuries, perhaps several times over, and what once was a large lumbering barge was replaced by a mighty fortress and then a nimble and stealthy mobile stash, with the current version perhaps also making extensive use of TARDIS tech.

Does anybody think the big white atrium for the Starfleet HQ in the 31st century is the recycled Kelvin Enterprise's atrium set from Into Darkness?
No, it's a redress of the S31 bridge, which itself was a redress of the Shenzhou's bridge which was built from scratch for the show.

I initially thought that, but then I realized it was multi-level and more resembled a redressed S31 starship bridge, but digitally expanded in size. At least, that’s how it looks to me.
You're correct.

But we have no evidence to support the idea that the TARDIS tech is implemented on any 32nd century Starfleet ship (even the Tikhov).
For all we know, that technology was in fact temporal based technology (and if it was, it would have been banned with other temporal tech since the end of Temporal Wars).
Although, it could have also been holographic for all we know... as we know holodecks can create this optical illusion and that holograms can be designed in a manner to be indistinguishable from the real thing - plus some hulls are grown organically with holographic composites and neutronium too (at least that's an interesting twist in starship construction which shows evolution).

We do know that ships in space don't need to have a horizontal deck layout as frequently seen.
Perhaps the Tikhov being relatively 'long' ... that length is actually its vertical layout (the height) for the seed vault.
So, even if the Tikhov looks to us as its positioned horizontally, and even if it travels like that, its possible its length is in fact its height.

Also, depending on how big the Tikhov is, the seed chamber doesn't need to be excessively huge vertically. 4 decks alone is already pretty big (especially if you use transporter technology to store things in the pattern buffer).

The Discovery would still be massively bigger as its even larger than the TOS Enterprise.

We indeed have no support for TARDIS tech, other than the large vault inside the small seed ship. OTOH, we hear of ships having holographic walls, or consisting of flying rain forests. The writers are fully geared for utilizing fancy concepts. This could simply be one of them.

Technically, we see that the habitat deck of the seed ship is horizontal when Nhan stands on it and looks out of a window that is at a telltale orientation vis-á-vis the hero ship. But technically, when the heroes transport from the habitat deck to the vault, the transporter could flip them 90 degrees...

Actually we do imho. I have the sneaking suspicion that Book's ship uses the Tardis tech, because of a strong impression that his ship is bigger inside than outside.

So the new Voyager is basically the same as the old Voyager, only without pylons.

I wonder if those floating nacelles bob up and down, too...

Timo Saloniemi
Voyager J does have pylons. They're aft and bottom of the nacelles. I've seen the photo of Voyager J somewhere, either here on Trekbbs or somewhere else. I just can't remember where. It might had been a Youtube video.

It's the artwork on that Twitter account that suggests the ship has no pylons. I'd love to see a photo - and indeed supposedly we get a glimpse of the whole ship in a wide shot a few seconds before she fills the screen, but I haven't had the patience to try and capture that.

There what look like a sister ship of Voyager from the aft. The scene, The starbase is in the foreground, Discovery is in the background. The sister ship of Voyager J is to right of Discovery. There's a ring ship between Discovery and Voyager J sister ship. Voyager J sister ship is to the bottom and left of the screen. You see it, it look like Voyager from the aft.

I don't blame the artist for getting a major detail about the Federation HQ wrong. We are struggling to get a clear look at things inside the distortion field.

The thin lines are energy cables. They are used for feeding energy from the ships to the station, as indicated by the pulse of energy seen in the cables. Where the cables attach to the ships' hull, the area is brighter than the rest of the surrounding hull.
