2x12 Twin Destinies

The speech was nice as well as the episode.

What puzzled me were the reasons for Scott, Chloe and Vanessa James to stay?
Chloe - just got back from relieving a horrible expereince with alien infection.
Scott - got a kid to take care of back home.
Vanessa James - doesnt look like a women who would stay because of Scott.

Btw, out of curiosity, would you stay or go in that situation?

Besides her mother, what does Chloe have to go back home for? We learned last season her 'friends' see her as a joke, who only got her job because of her father. On Destiny, she was made to feel special by Rush, who in the previous episode spelled out for her that they have a purpose in being there.

She appears to have taken that to heart.

Scott is only thinking of Chloe. I think in the halluciation episode it showed that James may have feelings for Scott.

I like Greer. The Colonel said he was staying and that was enough for Greer, no questions asked.

It was a good episode.

But yes it doesn't make sense how an entire ship was sent back in time when flare events only send the occupants of the wormhole back in time...

It was intense but predictable.
Since this is the first time that the power source for a gate was present at a sun's flare origin point, the temporal field probably was generated by the ship's power reserves (when the wormhole became unstable) or they amplified the time warp created by the wormhole.
We've seen a black hole's gravity affect the other end of a gate connection. So the amplification of the temporal anomaly could be credited for the entire ship being pulled through....McKay would agree. ;)

McKay would've been too interested in Lt. James' tatas to notice anything else. ;)

- Just watching the re-cap of the “Caine group as zombies” episode made my skin crawl. Just thinking about seeing your own end or suffering ends like that.
- I never understood why Rush fails to understand he needs these people. There are a few times were he plays them, but then the majority of the time, he gallivants around screaming, alienating people. You want people to stay for your mission? Try kid gloves.
- I renew my applause for Lou Diamond Phillips’ performance. One wonders if they had not spent money on the mostly weak performances of Louis Ferreira, Alainia Huffman, Ming-Na and Elyse Levesque, if they could have worked him into the budget and made for a stronger show.
- “Volunteers, step forward”. So main cast and primary B cast, stand over here.
- One problem this show has never had has been music.
- “Things that make it go” I got a good chuckle.
- It actually looked like there were two Rushes standing next to each other.
- “Rush just ran off on me Sir!” Well, you could grab him Scott.

They should have done a web series with Volker, Brody, etc. just bantering. The scientists have been the best part of the show.

Good episode was this and I wondered how they would get Telford off the ship again. The show is really hitting ist stride now, pity it got canned:rolleyes:

Seemed like a writers/plot convenience for the second destiny to be there.

Usually in stories like this only the shuttle and occupant from the first time-line would come back.

Chloe- We dine tonight

For some reason that sounded more like the crew were pirates raiding the ship.

So if Eli's plan had worked would the second crew just find the volunteers and destiny?

And would we be left with two ships with two volunteer crews?

They should just repeat the process over and over. Unlimited supplies with each crew member being sent home and a duplicate on the ship. Spare Destinies could be reprogrammed to return to Earth or just be cannibalized and then dumped into the sun.

Well I'll note this:

The stargate has proven that gravitation effects have proceed ahead of the event horizon effecting time but this is the first time it's actually reversed time instead of merely slowing it ahead of the event horizon and the gravitational field.

What they're implying here is that the Destiny passed through a wormhole. Try this on for size...MAYBE Destiny intercepted its own outgoing wormhole because of massive gravitational and magnetic flux? IDK

This would be the first time an intangible wormhole actually interacted with a physcial object and transported it.

Greer is awesome as always!

I thought he was a Neanderthal/Jerk as always..
I mean did we really need to hear his stupidity on the likely hood of their being 2 Rushes or not? Hearing him speak and interact with everyone else like watching dog interact with university professor...

at least they write him consistently.

I loved this episode! I'm a sucker for time travel/alternate reality stories to begin with, but I absolutely loved this one. They really made us feel like there were two Rush's there, I never once felt like it was just one, it felt like two, and it felt like two different ones to boot.

Of course, you'd expect the other ship and rush to dissapear immediately once they deviated from that timeline, but its Stargate, things do work differently. You'd also think the parts would dissapear, but oh well, I guess they don't.

Anyway, that kinda stuff aside, it was very cool, and I like the twin destiny aspect. I guess they did not end up getting that other device that would double the power of their weapons, oh well.

All in all, A+ episode, too bad the show is canceled really, seems like its on the uphill now. Just when it was getting good too.

But finially it was SCI FI! I just happened upon the show on Monday and I saw Telford dead...and I was like (FINALLY!) So I decided to see what happened at the repeat showing at 12:00.

To my surprise...it was GOOD.
Best episode they've ever created by a far 14 Billion Lightyears.
The characters didn't bicker unnecessarily
Surprisingly no sex (thank you )
The plot progressed with out contrivance
There was no plot holes
The Drama was delivered very competently
There was mystery and REAL SUSPENSE

If only they did this from day one.
Now I'm under no illusion. It's getting better because it's canceled, just like ENT got better under the threat of cancellation (and not a whole lot better either). This however IS a whole lot better. I enjoyed it despite the fact I have no investment in the characters' well being.

(ONE STICKY POINT)
I don't believe the characters such as Cloe and the Dr and Eli were prepared to stay. They all have reason to GO GOME. Really big reason too. The Dr didn't want to be there and she lost a child. Eli's mother is DYING and Cloe has lost her father and is a civilian.

Rather it's the scientist with the invested intrest in the project that have every motive to stay and discover the secrets of the universe. In other words it was quite a role reversal.

While I buy that Young would have stayed.
I buy that Greer would have stayed just to follow Young and Scott.
I have no opinion on Scott and James...it's belivable that they would stay as they have a commitment as SGC personnel to protect.

- Great episode, one of the best they've done so far.

- Clever way to get Telford back on Earth. I'm surprised that he didn't die though. How does that work again? Don't both people die if one of them is killed off? I guess there's an exception if you swap with yourself. It's pretty weird to think about... Telford stone-swapped with himself and now he's trapped in his own body so to speak.

- I'm sure something happened to Rush in the chair that will be or was intended to be revisited later.

- The rest of the crew probably ended up somehwere too.

- I like how Volker and Brody are becoming real characters with more to do. Brody even got to run down the hall really fast. They don't let just any bit player do that you know.

- It really is a shame that this show is getting cancelled.

- As for why the main cast members also happened to be the ones to volunteer, I figured that a good in-show explanation was that these particular people got to know eachother and made a decision to stick together. They aren't just the main cast, they're the core group. At one point, I actually thought that all the extras were going to make it back to Earth, leaving the core cast behind.

But Ming-Na wasn’t going to stay. So that wouldn’t have been so bad. Chloe, of course, remains. Can’t have everything.

And they made use of the gate. Plus, there's nothing wrong with throwing sex into the mix. This show has had one of the best sex scenes I've seen on film.

If only they did this from day one.
Maybe the overall quality hasn't been consistent enough for most fans, but the show has had moments of brilliance before.

Two more things...

- I got a kick out of the McKay reference. It made me wonder what became of him, Atlantis and Keller. Of course, I'm four episodes away from finishing SGA, so I don't know if there's any development there, though I did hear that Atlantis ends up on Earth and that if the show had continued, it would have been back in the Pegasus Galaxy at some point.

- It's too bad that they stopped showing the stone-swaps back to Earth. I hope they didn't do away with them because of viewer complaints.

Telford did not Stone swap with himself. The Telford on Earth wanted to swap with himself (as mentioned by Young) but his other self was on the other Destiny at the time and was dead at that point. So 'Original' timeline Telford is on Earth.

Hmm.. I wonder if they also took the Stones off of duplicate Destiny? If so they would have about 8-10 of them or so, not sure how many Earth has.

I wouldn't have bothered. There were so many other important things on the list that the stones would've been dead last on the priority list, next to that thing Rush was trying to get for the weapons.

It is too bad they didn't get the weapon power thing, oh well.

Also, I chuckled at: "What do you call these things" "I call them things that make us go" I guess they are Pakleds :p

I wonder what the ship will look like by the "end" of the show. I mean they got all of these replacements parts and a second repair bot. If you look closely you can see several hull breeches near the nose of the ship. I wonder if they will send the bots to repair them next?
Who knows what they may find in the other parts of the ship, for all we know there would be a real medical bay with early Ancient scanners and medical devices.

I did read there is suppose to be a new set for something, something is coming that's new. Maybe a new area of the ship.
