In real life, there will be two presidents during 24's run. In the world of 24, there have been eight presidents, only one (so far) who even lasted one term.

Yep

Season One - President unknown, California Primary day in March of 2004

Season Two - D. Palmer Presidency. October 2005

Season Three - D. Palmer Presidency, Presidentital Debates, October 2008.
Palmer steps down from running due to the scandals in his party.

Season Four - Keeler Presidency, April 2010. Keeler incapacitated ascending Logan per the 25th amendment (incidently, this was pulled in Season 2 temporairly stepping down Palmer and ascending VP Prescott.)

Season 5 - Logan Presidency, Logan forced to step down due to scandal ascending VP Gardner. Takes place in October 2011.

Season 6 - W. Palmer Presidency in its early months. Palmer incapacitated by mid-day ascending VP Daniels. Palmer is the first President to be elected in since Keeler over four years ago. Takes place in June 2013

Redemption: President-elect Taylor's Inaguration Day. Friday January 20, 2017.

Season 7 - Takes place sometime in early 2017.

(These dates will be shifted four years earlier if you believe 24's first season took place in the "past" from when it started airing rather than the future. As 24 premirered in 2001. So it either takes place a year or so in the "past" in 2000 during those elections or four years in "the future" during the 2004 elections. Most likely it takes place in "the future" as CTU seems like an entity that'd be created in the wake of 9/11.)

Actually, make that nine presidents. Wasn't Prescott president for a couple hours when they 25th Palmer in season two?

Agreed. I'll take Janis over Chloe ANY day. Chloe gets on my last nerve. Does that woman even have a pleasant expression? She always looks worried/sad/constipated.
Not for me. So far Janis always looks like she's got a nervous twitch or a schoolgirl's crush. No verdict on her as yet.

Thanks to those who mentioned her name, IMDB tells me I knew her first as Diana Bloom in Journeyman's second episode, "Friendly Skies." She played a woman who, in the 70s, gave birth in an airplane 30,000 feet over Lake Tahoe.
I had never seen her before (Annie Wersching), but I was smitten almost immediately by the red hair and the freckles, not to mention the character seems to be more than competent but a good measure of sensibility, too.

I hate that her husband's character is being played up to be her weakness.
Well, he IS a Necromonger after all.

I can't help wonder if the show isn't taking a bit of a "liberal bent" with Jack admiting that his crimes need to be brought out into the open.

That part kind of surprised me. In all the conservativeness of the show, it was actually quite refreshing seeing that scene. Other than the final scene and Walker, that was probably my favorite scene in the whole two hours.

Jack wants the secrecy of CTU out in the open so he can seek public approval for his actions. It's not an act of moral conscience. He openly admits he doesn't regret a thing. And Kurtwood Smith's character is being played up all too much as a villain for his statements to be confused with those of the show. Combine that with the scene in the car where the FBI officer expresses his admiration for Jack, and you're not seeing much of a "liberal" bent at all. At least I'm not.

Just my two cents, though. The closest the show could be confused with liberal (since the end of season two) was in season five, since the plot was about a presumably Republican President who aided terrorists in order to trump up reasons to invade Asia in order to control their oil supply.

And, regardless, it's still fun as hell. I mean, shit, Tony's back!

Unfortunately her freckles look like a very bad case of skin rash in HD. :(
