It's just interesting to try to place Taylor into the political spectrum. But her insistence on worrying about genocide in Sassafrassia places her squarely in the Unicorns & Rainbows Party because no Dem or Pub would ever allow themselves to devote so much energy to something that will yield no worthwhile outcome for them on a pragmatic level.

This premise is wholly a Hollywood invention, dreamt up by people who have no direct experience with the exercise of political power. The insane admirals of Starfleet are more convincing political figures than Miz Prez Taylor.

Pretty true, but again, missions of purely humanitarian aid leans a bit more left than it does right. But, again, it's possible she's part of a third party.
 
I finally watched this last night. I don't know if I'm able to disregard all the geographic inaccuracies regarding DC.
