2026 Comics Thread

Star Trek: Deviations - Threads of Destiny turned out to be a huge disappointment. The story was extremely bland with nothing interesting happening at all. Uhura goes back to 1963, meets some activists, then gets rescued. That's it. Martin Luther King made a cameo appearance, but even that managed to be boring. Also, they spoiled Dr. King's appearance on the credits page. None of the characters had any depth and the dialogue was just people talking about injustice and inspiration.
This was a story about Uhura traveling back to 1963 and participating in the civil rights movement, so it had a lot of potential. The characters would've had more depth if they shared personal stories of the discrimination they faced. It was also a time travel story, so Uhura could've made some kind of impact like saving someone's life or inspiring someone. I realize she's not supposed to change history, but not every person will have a major effect on the timeline.
And why did they decide to illustrate the story in the style of a Gold Key comic? I thought this was supposed to be a serious story. Not that anyone could possibly mistake it for a Gold Key comic because it lacked a sense of adventure. And what's with the evil grin and red eyes that the Guardian of Forever aka Carl displays when Kirk and Spock go through the portal?

This came out a few days ago, I missed it because my first born son arrived to the world earlier this month and he's stealing all my sleep :)

This special one-shot features Lieutenant Nyota Uhura. In the 23rd century, she explores far-flung star systems with her crew on the Enterprise as part of her mission to communicate and build bridges with life found across the Galaxy. But in the 20th century, humankind was working to build understanding among themselves, with African Americans on Earth championing the Civil Rights Movement and using their voices and acts of protest to end racial segregation and discrimination.
Now, by way of the Guardian of Forever, Uhura is yanked back through time to 1963. There, she’ll join all those fighting for equality and justice and reconnect to why her work as a communications officer is perhaps the most important work of all.

What wonderful news! Congratulations on the addition to your family, @tgiokdi ! I hope everyone is doing well!
We're doing fantastic¡ But even the best behaved baby needs to be fed and changed every couple hours, lol. I think everyone here will be happy to know his first 48 hours of life had TNG on Pluto in the background.

Congrats!
I'm disappointed to hear about Uhura comic not being very good, I was really looking forward to it.
