2024 book releases

I’m hoping to snag the short story collection when it’s on sale. I’d hope a Kindle version would be available as the print was tiny on the previous volume.

Print is pretty small on this most recent one, as well. Took me a bit to adjust to it. Might be time for reading glasses for me.

It’s small. And I have glasses.

This collection really needs to be available on the Kindle.

With the Star Trek magazine, I can increase the font size on the library version. This is case at least with the magazine, where the free version is better than the paid for version.

I want to get the book with Gillian Taylor's return Also having Saaavik another novel is really cool .I've been trying to read the older Star Trek books I got awhile back. This must have new Trek book I want to get this year.

I’m a little disappointed that there’s not a Discovery novel to coincide with the final season. But it probably means there will be at least one for 2025, at least if Firewall coming after Picard’s final season is precedent.

Probably not gonna happen, but I would be down for a novelization for the Section 31 movie. Considering there wasn’t one for Beyond, I won’t hold my breath, but I wouldn’t say no to one.

Maybe we can get some "planet of the week" novels for Disco post-series, or if they'll veto them in case of Academy

Well, that and a novelization to a streaming movie is kind or redundant anyway since by definition, a streaming movie is already available on home media when it's released.

It can provide extras, though, like deleted scenes, nuances that weren't immediately visible, character's opinions.
Actually, these days it can't since modern novelizations are usually under strict instructions to adhere to the script and not deviate. Which was a factor in why Beyond didn't get a novelization.

Indeed, in the past decade to only novelizations which have gone beyond the script were the Star Wars movies, and that's only because they were supervised by the Lucas Story Group.

Probably not. Given the Academy series will be in the 32nd century, they won't want to stand in the way of what might happen on that show. Besides, here we are a year after Picard ended and there's only been one novel related to that so far.

I'm still surprised Simon & Schuster never did anything with this PIC book listing which Amazon parked in their system at 31 December 2050. What happens to the ISBN now?

A lot of the description seems off. I did double back and see the last couple years also describe a nonexistent “bonus spread” covering the last third of the prior year (there’s the center image, but that’s never had any dates on it), and a “generous grid” for writing in stuff, which has been a feature of exactly one SotL calendar.

I know they have… carry the one… 286 horizontal images, and another 35 square, and I’m sure there are plenty of people who aren’t me and don’t have a comprehensive archive of calendars stacked in a closet (and both book collections), so it must be tempting to cheap out and not commission 14 new images, but I really hope they don’t.

Maybe this should wait for the 2025 release thread, but following up on the “Ships of the Line” question, Brian Totosky (VFX supervisor on PIC and the latter seasons of DSC and SNW) just posted on social media that he’s been invited to help supervise the 2026 SotL edition and is in the early stages of commissioning images, so it looks like the 2025 calendar reusing old images (if, indeed, it is and this isn’t a weird mistake in the solicitation mock-up) is a one-off and not the new normal.

I'm pleased to hear that... I'll just have to find a different calendar for 2025...!
