How is that supposed to be pronounced? My mental ear wants to make it ɹaɪd͡ʒoʊ (almost rhyming with "Rigel," which has a reduced second vowel).

How is that supposed to be pronounced? My mental ear wants to make it ɹaɪd͡ʒoʊ (almost rhyming with "Rigel," which has a reduced second vowel).
I assumed it was "Rye-Joe."
As opposed to with a German "j" (which would make the name sound like the personal syllable of "Ryozenzuzex," the protagonist's name in ADF's HC prequel, Nor Crystal Tears). I couldn't help but think of Ryo, very briefly, before settling on the same conclusion as @The Wormhole.
(Nor Crystal Tears is an amazing novel, telling the Human/Thranx first contact story. From the Thranx point of view. With one of the best opening lines ever written, "It's hard to be a larva.")

I’m still only half way through this book. I was in hospital for a week back at the beginning of June and I asked a family member to bring me some books to read and unfortunately they didn’t find this one, so I wasn’t able to finish it, and since then I’ve been reading others. I think that kind of says how much this novelization is pulling me in. It’s not, and I think because, as I said, it’s just a very vanilla, verbatim novelization that just hits the plot points and doesn’t expand the story like the novelization of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier did.
