    God.
    Or Q?
    Or both?

Sorry but I find this constant character destruction in books, series and movies so destructive and annoying.

It’s actually not constant in the books at all.
    Or in the TV series.

Maybe it's just my favorite characters who are wiped out.
    Typical for my bad luck.

    Please enlighten me!

Well, you asked and the Red Dwarf style answer is:

    Everybody's dead, Lynx, everybody's dead.

Oh, boy, maybe we can finally experience the irreconcilable debate between "No one should ever die in fiction" versus "Everyone should always die in fiction" the board has been crying out for since then.

After 15 years, you're still trying to start this argument? There are a lot of other stories to read. Move on.

Where did you get these images? I don't see anything on Simon & Schuster. Not Amazon or Barnes & Noble or even Memory Alpha.

They were posted on Trek Central's Facebook page. I had a feeling someone might ask, because I checked S&S and Amazon and such, too, in hopes of finding less-compressed images to posts, so I have no idea where they got them first. Though it's possible Tuskin38 cracked the case and they just clicked though on S&S and I didn't, but I thought I looked at the actual page and not just the search results.

It took a day or two but the images are now up at Amazon, B&N, S&S, etc.

Or just stop reading the books if it causes you so much grief? So many characters in Trek have deaths that they later manage to survive. Spock even had a funeral. Not seeing the problem, sorry.

They tried to blow up the park named after me twice. It still came back.

15 years? The book I'm referring to is from 2022.
But give me some advice about good stories to read and I'll consider it.

Been a while since I've seen two Trek books that were definite full price buys for me.

I love the cover of Lost to Eternity, and I love the impression I get from the back cover synopsis. I love TOS 80's movie era Star Trek, and am really excited to read a story that follows up on Gillian. Also want to say I'm really happy to see the return and inclusion of Saavik in that setting.

Would look forward to most any TOS novel. 2 in 2024 too much to ask for?

Well 15 years ago you were here complaining about decisions you thought were similar in other books you hadn’t read, which you well know.

But in all seriousness, from all those conversations back then about what you wanted in books, I suspect if you haven’t read anything by Becky Chambers you might quite like her writing.

Well to be honest, I actually gave up on Star Trek books back then, 15 years ago or what it was.

Then last year I found that there were some interesting books about Garak out there. And since Garak is my second Star Trek favorite after Kes, I thought "why not".

I had bought the excellent book A Stitch In Time some year before and now I bought The Crimson Shadow and The Never-Ending Sacrifice (the book about Rugal Pa'Dar who we saw in the DS9 episode Cardassians) by Una Mac Cormack. Both great books who I highly enjoyed!

This is what I wrote only a couple of days ago in another forum:
And some week ago I went out and looked for more books about Garak.

And then my new-won faith and interest in Star Trek books was crushed again.

Garak is destroyed and killed off and there is no way back. So who's next?

If I go for books about Quark (my third favorite), when will he be killed off?

So I've made some rules which I'm gonna stick to:

Rule 1: Never ever trust or like an autor ,a book or any book series.
Sooner or later something will show up which makes you very dissapointed and will change your opinion.

Rule 2: Never ever have a favorite character! That character will be killed off or ruined sooner or later.

Rule 3: Always be cautious with everything written after 1999.
Always remember that dystopia now rules in the "Gray Universe".

Rule 4: If you want to read a really good story which you really like, write it yourself!

Rule 5: When stuck in some contradiction, always stick to the Lynxverse!
It's the one and only option if you will stay happy with Star Trek.

However, in all fairness I will take a look at what Becky Chambers have written.
At heart I'm still an optimist. Or a fool!
    Or both.

Could be? Market just seems very different from where it was at five years ago.
