2020 X Box Series X Vs. Playstation 5 thread.

I've had the console for about a week now, and I still haven't bought an Xbox Series X/S game yet. Having too much fun with games I already own via backwards compatibility.

Why is the PS5 kind of ugly? It looks like an oversized router box.
You can buy them in Australia too now but not the Xbox series X seems there is a huge supply shortage, and when will that be sorted?

Just sold my PS4 (500GB) + 10 games yesterday ...

And today, finally managed to snap up a PS5! My partner spotted the deal on Facebook 15 minutes after the retailer posted it. Digital and Disc version sold out within 47 minutes.

:)

Cheers. Just very fortuitous timing that my partner was scrolling thru Facebook when she was!

Another retailer we'd been keeping an eye on sent out an email yesterday saying they had 300 consoles available and they'd be available from 9am Thursday - online only. We received another email today just after 9am reporting the site had crashed and IT was working frantically to fix the issues... check back in at midday. Midday rolls around, then we get *another* email ...

So yeah - good thing we picked one up yesterday.

Yeah JB Hifi are great for bargains when it works.

Howcome these consoles are in such short supply? I want an X Box series X but you can't find them anywhere in Australia.

^ Well AMD just can't supply enough hardware to everyone who needs it. AMD's chips are in both the PS5 and the XBOX Series S/X. And of course they have their own graphics cards as well. And COVID hasn't exactly helped with the whole situation.

Oh I get Covid being a hurdle but seems the factories in China are putting out enough stuff people in the US are able to get their mitts on consoles.

Well I don't know how hard it is to get either next gen console in Australia, but I do know that a lot of people in the US and Europe still haven't been able to get one. Scalpers aren't helping the whole situation either.

Oh.. OK so it's bad there too. OK. I wonder if 2022 we'll be able to get one

Yeah it's not great. I feel very fortunate that I was able to get my PS5 on release day. And I actually pre-ordered it like two or three months before release. And I had to pay for all of it right away. I know quite a few people who did the same and they still haven't received their consoles.

I wouldn't be that pessimistic. LOL, I say that now, but who would know. So long as supply continues to ramp up, demand will gradually start being absorbed. Just do what we did - sign up to receive email updates with retailers and follow them on Facebook (keep an eye on your notifications).

We have limited supplies of the consoles here in the US. I was lucky to get my hands on a Series S. Sounds like availability for any of the new consoles won’t pick up here until June.

I have a serious issue with my Series S. Whenever I go to the bedroom to play games on my Xbox One S, I think the damn thing has died everytime I turn it on now. The load times are unbearable!

What? Isn't the series S supposed to be all digital, no disks? That sounds bad.

I tried firing up the PS4 Pro to see if I could load my PS5 save of Assassin's Creed Valhalla to basically get a free platinum trophy, and I was losing patience due to the load times  The only reason I'm keeping the Pro at this point is because the CBS All Access app isn't on PS5.

I understood what I was buying when I bought it. No discs is a limitation, but I own enough digital games already that I won't need to buy anything for months/years, then put Game Pass Ultimate on top of it and, well, the Series S is definitely a keeper.

But the long load times sounds bad for such a machine
