2020 titles announced

Well, we know what the first of these is, and have another one to boot:

SHO is Shadows Have Offended, by Cassandra Rose Clarke, a TNG novel as stated, and focused on Troi and Dr. Crusher; it is standalone and set in TNG Season 7.

The second book announced in the article is a DS9 novel, by Alex R. White. Their novel, Revenant, will focus on Jadzia Dax and Kira.

These are the novels that were teased in a couple of the SDCC panels, as reported by 8of5 here.
Wow, I’m just excited they’re publishing some novels set during TNG and DS9!

So, am I correct in my understanding that there are no new Star Trek novels planned to come out in November or December? That the Voyager novel in October will be the last one out in 2020?

Cool. Nothing about that one yet on Memory Beta. I’m glad to hear is coming out. And this is the first Trek novel you’ve had out since 2015?

Nope: THE ANTARES MAELSTROM (2019), LEGACIES, Book One: CAPTAIN TO CAPTAIN (2016), MIASMA (ebook only, 2016).

At the Memory Beta wiki site, I meant.

Memory Alpha is more up to date. They are current and even include some of the future books, like Voyager's "To Lose the Earth" and Greg's book. Last I checked they don't have the TNG or DS9 novels up yet that were recently announced, but I think they wait to post until it's announced "officially" by CBS or maybe the Star Trek website (I'm not sure, but there is usually a few weeks lag between when someone brings it up here and it's on Memory Alpha).

Memory Beta, for whatever reason, really lags behind. It's useful for looking up novel-only information (say about novel-only characters, or novel-only story lines). But as far as novel announcements and jacket blurbs for new and upcoming books Memory Alpha is probably the better source of the two.

I usually type in the search "upcoming productions" (or if it's something that was already released then type in "2020 Productions" "2019 Productions", etc.)

The Syfy article was the official announcement.

You get your author copies this far in advance?

Depends. The physical books should be rolling off the presses shortly, at least in theory. When one actually makes it to my door varies. Needless to say, I'm usually compulsively checking the mail as the pub date approaches.

The Syfy article was the official announcement.

I did just check and the upcoming TNG and DS9 novels have since been added with their upcoming productions page. It's under TBA for 2021 currently. I can't recall if they have a publishing date yet according to the article posted here, but they are there now. Not much to read on either book as of yet, except the basics of what we saw in the article (i.e. the DS9 novel focuses on Kira and Jadzia and therefore presumably takes place during the series run).

So I guess it just took a few days for someone to add it, which is fine. I don't need someone to go in and create a page the day of. As long as something is there within a week or two I can live with that.

It also still has the upcoming Picard novel still listed potentially for 12/15, though it is still untitled. Not sure if that's still a go or not at this point, but it's there so I guess officially it hasn't been pulled/postponed (unless someone heard differently--I'm not even sure who's supposed to be writing that one).

Usually the Memory Beta contributors have the book in hand before setting up a page for it

Yeah, that's been my experience as well. I usually don't go to Memory Beta unless there's something specific to the novels I'm looking for (like when I wanted to check on something about Jasminder Choudhury on another thread). It's ok for stuff like that. But for new/upcoming stuff, not so hot.

I have pretty much given up on Memory Beta as a useful reference source.

Memory Beta has become significantly less active because the dominant admin there is a bullying jerk who drove away the more active contributors so he could turn it into his own playground. The result, predictably, is a dying wiki.

But if these books are not coming out until 2021, then any mention of them does not belong in the thread. Mention of them would belong in the 2021 thread.

Come on, you've been here since 2005, that's long enough to know threads here almost never stay on topic

I'm afraid we're not a very disciplined bunch :D

The Memory Alpha admins can be a lot worse than Captainmike if you get on their bad side, but it doesn't affect Memory Alpha's popularity. I think the real reason that Memory Beta is out of date is that most Star Trek fans don't care about the books, and of those that do, not many are interested in editing wikis.
