If the animated versions aren't doing that well, I bet a filmed version would do even worse.They could be specials in between seasons, perhaps... I bet the ROI would be bigger than some would imagine... There's a certain nostalgia around the classic series that i think would appeal to a wide audience... Maybe I'm biased, but still... And it could expand into the Second Doctor's series as well, to remake a missing episode or two...

I wonder how the cost of a filmed story using the effects of those days compares to animation. Guessing the animation is still substantially less.If they did a 2nd Doctor adventure, whether a redo or brand new, would all his villains still be made out of tinfoil?
It would certainly keep the budget down.
