2011 Ships Of The Line Images

The main ship in the second-from-last image is really not that great... I wish they'd stop putting so much fan stuff into the SoTL, and this is why.

Whereas I love seeing the few never-before-seen designs they put into the SOTL calendars, and hope they keep it up! (Although I will agree with you about that particular ship... it doesn't do much for me at first blush.)

I'd rather they show us the never before realized CONCEPT designs from the actual productions... not fan-made ships, which never look that great anyway.

^ What about the other NXes? Some of them could have come right off the assembly line with the refit already in place (if not added later).

Columbia is MIA (Destiny and all that) as of the end of Raptor's Wing. Challenger NX-03, Discovery NX-04 and Atlantis NX-05 are all destroyed by the end of Raptor's Wing. The only remaining active NX vessel in Starfleet other than Enterprise is Endeavour NX-06 and that ship suffered melted hull plating in a Romulan nuclear blast.

There isn't much to upgrade.

Other countries surely have shuttle names that could be used... ;)

NX classes aren't doing so well in the War and take too long to build so we won't see much more of them.

The Prime Minister of United Earth ordered that the United Earth Starfleet end construction on new NX-class starships and incorporate more NX-class tech into new Daedalus-class starships, because they're much faster and cheaper to produce. So there won't BE any more NX-class starships.

The only question is whether Endeavour will be fixed or not. Plus as I have always maintained, the formation of the Federation gives the writers a free hand to make whatever administrative changes they want and redirect Starfleet's building priorities accordingly. Building for United Earth isn't the same as building for the Federation.

the older tech of the Daedalus class ships is proving more resistant to the Romulan hijacking software

Shiza Minelli!! Doug Drexler just updated his blog with the first Drex TV installment that includes a segment where the Ships of the Line images are animated...and it kicks all sorts of ass.

Check it out:

That was pretty funky, thanks for the link.

I'm just wondering, the Ships of the Line book that was released a few years ago, will there be another compilation similar to it in the future or was it a one off for the 40th Anniversary Celebrations?

The Klingon D7 and Starfleet shuttlecraft were cool as was the ringship. The rest not so much.

It from the cover of the German translation of Gods of Night (Gotter der Nocht). The German publisher Cross Cult has been doing translations of Trek in German since Feb. '08. Alot of them have had alternate covers. My personal Favorite is A Stitch in Time.

Actually it's not from the final cover, but from an earlier version of the cover (they changed it (and Ezri's hairstyle) again shortly before the release).

Here's the version SPCTRE's avatar is from:

And this is the final version:

Are you sure? I don't own the German version myself, but according to Amazon(.de) it's the other way round. Or did they screw up?

The first cover draft pretty much looked like the final cover minus some minor tweaks, after that they had the version you used for your avatar, and which amazon.de used, too, and literally mere days before the release they put the final version on their website startrekromane.de.

They always stick a bit of blue in black hair because if they don't it looks like a big black ink blot. They've done it in comic books for decades.
