2011 sequel announced

Ready to be green lit is not green lit. I certainly hope a sequel happens, but don't get your hopes up especially about the year.

After the movie we were talking and got onto the subject of shatner and sequels...

Star Trek 2: The search for spock 2!

Shatner somehow makes it over to the new trek universe...eventually through sequels the whole original crew makes it over in following sequels.

I guess keeping with the TWOK title it could also be "The Wrath of Kirk"...the original kirk ;)

I'm fully expecting another Trek from this crew, but planning a sequel and greenlighting it are two different things. I'm pretty sure we won't be getting Push 2 and Push 3, Dragonball 2 and Dragonball 3, etc. -- unless they're cheap straight-to-dvd flicks with no one returning from the theatrical movie and no connection to them either.

The beauty is in this new alternate reality, James T. Kirk may still be alive in his 70's and not have "disappeared" on the 1701-B into the Nexxus.

I would think it would have more weight than me saying I heard there would be sequel or is IMDB that bad?:confused:

My uncle works as a Janitor at Paramount. He said he was mopping a hallway in which JJ Abrams, Kurtzman and Orci were talking. They were saying that Paramount already wants a sequel because they believe the current film will do an astronomical take at the global box office.

JJ was brainstorming some rudimentary plot ideas with his writers. My uncle had to act like he wasn't paying attention but he did hear Kurtzman say that the studio was pressuring them to replace Sulu with a wacky kid-friendly CGI character who speaks in rhyme who they could market more.

Also, Orci was saying he thought it might be interesting to revisit the god spirit beyond the great barrier from Star Trek 5 and bring back spocks brother. Furthermore, they thought it would be really progressive if Uhura only speaks Spanish from now on.

JJ wasn't so sure of this. According to my uncle he sighed and said that he heard that Spike Lee was available and he was going to lobby Paramount to let him direct the next movie instead.

Geeks honor, I swear this is the truth.
