Worf's dad could be in it.
That would be very cool. That would mean Dorn would have played Worf, Worf's dad, and Worf's grandfather.Played by Michael Dorn.Star Trek - The Klingons Strike Back

It sounds plausible and I am ready for it.And fans shouldn't think they've seen the last of those visual treats and the crew of the USS Enterprise. An as-yet untitled sequel is already being written and the movie is due out in 2011. And yes, Capt. Pike will be along for the ride.
"It's a great role. Yeah, I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship."
This from the Toronto Star interview with Greenwood:

But I do honestly think that it is insane to think about a sequel when the first one hasn’t come out it.
I pray people see the movie and I pray they like the film. And if there desire for another one, not only am I thrilled to produce that movie and help realize it, but I am wide open to the possibility of directing it.
It is something I need to decide when we have discussions about the story, which we have not had yet.
We have literally not had one discussion about what the sequel will be. Not one meeting, there is no outline, not one.
For a while now I've been thinking that the next movie could go the route of The Dark Knight and leave "Star Trek" out of the title. Where No Man Has Gone Before has always sounded like a great choice. On the other hand, it probably should be "Star Trek", then a subtitle, especially since there aren't too many Trek-sounding standalone titles they could use beyond "Where No Man Has Gone Before".Star Trek: Where No Man Has Gone Before
Simple, effective, and it pays tribute to the Original, no?

Could they possibly be planning a sequel before the success of this new movie has yet to be determined?

My guess as to the plot: Someone invents a Project Genesis-like doohickey to make a "new Vulcan" with, and some mad Vulcan steals the device and attempts to ass-rape the Romulans with it.
Zomg should I put up spoiler-code for that?![]()
BTW, the thread title is misleading. There has been no official announcement of a sequel and definitely no announcement regarding a date. Sure, Abrams & Company have indicated that they've been thinking about a storyline and we've heard that Paramount is 'ready to green light' a sequel, but that's far from a sequel announcement or a release date.
