2011 sequel announced

BTW, the thread title is misleading. There has been no official announcement of a sequel and definitely no announcement regarding a date. Sure, Abrams & Company have indicated that they've been thinking about a storyline and we've heard that Paramount is 'ready to green light' a sequel, but that's far from a sequel announcement or a release date.

This from the Toronto Star interview with Greenwood:
And fans shouldn't think they've seen the last of those visual treats and the crew of the USS Enterprise. An as-yet untitled sequel is already being written and the movie is due out in 2011. And yes, Capt. Pike will be along for the ride.
"It's a great role. Yeah, I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship."
It sounds plausible and I am ready for it.

Star Trek: Where No Man Has Gone Before

Simple, effective, and it pays tribute to the Original, no?

Well, this from Abrams from his Trekmovie interview:

But I do honestly think that it is insane to think about a sequel when the first one hasn’t come out it.
I pray people see the movie and I pray they like the film. And if there desire for another one, not only am I thrilled to produce that movie and help realize it, but I am wide open to the possibility of directing it.

It is something I need to decide when we have discussions about the story, which we have not had yet.
We have literally not had one discussion about what the sequel will be. Not one meeting, there is no outline, not one.

For a while now I've been thinking that the next movie could go the route of The Dark Knight and leave "Star Trek" out of the title. Where No Man Has Gone Before has always sounded like a great choice. On the other hand, it probably should be "Star Trek", then a subtitle, especially since there aren't too many Trek-sounding standalone titles they could use beyond "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Star Trek - The Klingons Strike Back

Worf's dad could be in it.

OH GOD - That'd mean BLOODY Michael Dorn gets his ugly fucking face in AGAIN.

No thank YOU.

I HATED when he played his own ancestor in STVI - Colonel Worf. That was ridiculous. It's like friggin Dorn has photos of the producers with young male hookers or something. He gets his nose in in STVI and then jumps from TNG as it finishes to DS9 and then jumps back to TNG for their movies.

I should start the "I hate Worf" club or something because he is one of THE MOST OVER RATED things about bloody modern Star Trek for me, EVER!!!

Could they possibly be planning a sequel before the success of this new movie has yet to be determined?

They have ways to determine these things. Like wonderful word of mouth and it being the best reviewed movie so far this year. :techman:

My guess as to the plot: Someone invents a Project Genesis-like doohickey to make a "new Vulcan" with, and some mad Vulcan steals the device and attempts to ass-rape the Romulans with it.

Zomg should I put up spoiler-code for that? :D

No way. I've already got the plot down. T'Pring survived the Vulcan Singularity. She's going to come looking for her Betrothed, and find that he's been shagging Uhura.

Star Trek Part XII: Inflagrente Uhura

I didn't realize that the ? mark didn't strike until after I posted. Sorry 'bout that. Can it be corrected by someone?

Oh I'd say give it a week and Paramount will be telling us May 2011 is a lock ;).
