Ready to be green lit is not green lit. I certainly hope a sequel happens, but don't get your hopes up especially about the year.
I'm sorry to say this: don't trust IMDB.
Would you trust a quote from Bruce Greenwood in the Toronto Star?
Probably already posted but here goes.

I searched Abrams on IMDB and the is a listing for "Untitled Star Trek Sequel 2011"

I would think it would have more weight than me saying I heard there would be sequel or is IMDB that bad?![]()

On IMDB, it could actually be YOU saying it!!!
My uncle works as a Janitor at Paramount. He said he was mopping a hallway in which JJ Abrams, Kurtzman and Orci were talking. They were saying that Paramount already wants a sequel because they believe the current film will do an astronomical take at the global box office.
JJ was brainstorming some rudimentary plot ideas with his writers. My uncle had to act like he wasn't paying attention but he did hear Kurtzman say that the studio was pressuring them to replace Sulu with a wacky kid-friendly CGI character who speaks in rhyme who they could market more.
Also, Orci was saying he thought it might be interesting to revisit the god spirit beyond the great barrier from Star Trek 5 and bring back spocks brother. Furthermore, they thought it would be really progressive if Uhura only speaks Spanish from now on.
JJ wasn't so sure of this. According to my uncle he sighed and said that he heard that Spike Lee was available and he was going to lobby Paramount to let him direct the next movie instead.
Geeks honor, I swear this is the truth.
