2011 NFL Season - A New Game

What happened in the final minute of the game is pretty much why Romo will not be a top QB in the NFL. It's like in pressure situation he has a brain fart, and it's embarrassing to watch. Watching him reminded me of the failed FG attempt against Seattle in the playoffs a few seasons ago. I'm not sure how much longer Dallas can afford to rely on him because if I was a fan (And I'm not), I wouldn't trust Romo either.

Well... that was disappointing by the Titans. Way to live up to your fat new contract CJ... although they hardly gave him the ball anyway. Not the best start for the Munchak era, although I liked how things came together in the end, and overall I'm happy with Hasselbeck.

Seeing the Ravens destroy the Steelers was glorious. I've come to like the Ravens more and more as I like the Steelers less and less. Their starting QBs have something to do with it I think.

And of course seeing the Cowboys choke on national television is always a special treat.

Ugh, the frakking Cowboys gave that game away? Last I saw it was still 24-17! :scream:

Now I hope the Patriots demolish the Dolphins tomorrow night. That'd be nice and therapeutic.

All they had to do was run the ball up the gut 3 times, kill some clock, and kick a field goal for a two score lead. No way was Sanchez going to overcome that. And letting a guy go untouched up the middle on that punt? Brutal. Romo's interception was as bad as it gets as well.

I hate both teams so no big deal, but I think I am more against the Jets these days. On the bright side Cowboys are an NFC team, and anytime an NFC team that's not the Packers loses to the AFC it's probably a good thing.

Bears actually looked pretty solid from what I saw. They looked better than last year where everything that went their way felt like a total fluke at least. Lions beating Tampa is no small thing either.

At least we still have the Vikings. McNabb 7/15 for 39 yards passing :guffaw:

After the first Sunday of games, the Broncos are still unbeaten and untied. :D

They play tonight, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

Which game would you suggest is the best/most interesting for me to watch this afternoon - Pittsburg v Baltimore, Atlanta v Chicago, Philadelphia v St. Louis?

Surprisingly, none of these games were real competitive.

Can't watch the Pats-Fins tonight. Damned classes on Monday night.

Strange start to the season. Quite a few upsets and some notable injuries (both of my fantasy teams have taken some hits). I suspect the lingering effects of the lockout have something to do with it.

Seems like old times, Houston beating up on Indy opening day and all. It looks like the AFC south is going to be a bit ragged this year. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the AFC south champion with an 8-8 or 9-7 record this year.

As some TV talking head said yesterday, "If the Texans don't do it this year, they never will." And he was exactly right.

Dear Bears,
Holy shit. I certainly thought you guys could pull it out, but I didn't think you'd throw an ass-kicking like that on the Falcons. The defense was fucking lights-out, and Cutler played absolutely great. Cutler owns, Urlacher owns, Forte owns, Peppers owns. I couldn't ask for more, outside of one particular area.

Dear Offensive Line:
Jesus Christ, you guys still suck shit. Four sacks allowed to that anemic pass rush? Really? That said, you weren't awful. I expected far worse after Kreutz's departure. But figure your shit out, for heaven's sake, before Cutler's in a wheelchair.

Dear Jerry Angelo,
Invite Matt Forte into your office. Apologize for being an idiot. Then fucking pay that man.

Dear NFC North,
I'm really and honestly looking forward to your matchups this year. The North having the best D-lines and worst O-lines in the league is going to be amazing.

Dear ESPN Power Rankings,
Falcons at #6, Bears at #13? Y'all be fucked up.

Well it just keeps getting better for the Rams.

What was first thought to be a stinger to Cornerback Ron Bartell turned out to be two fractures in his neck. His season is done.

Danny Amendola is out "indefinitely".

OL Jason Smith has an ankle sprain and could be out for a while depending on how it heals.

And Jackson's injury will keep him out at least one more week, a Monday night game with the Giants.

So we'll just send an injured Bradford out there without the top running back and wide receiver from last year, and see how that goes....

This is amazing, after getting through training camp and pre-season with no injuries at all. Damn.

:scream:

The Lions are tied for the NFC North division lead.

I wanted to be able to say that once this season.

Digits, what the hell happened? I kept seeing those injuries and expected to see the game somehow being played in the old Veteran's Stadium. I know you guys have a turf field, but I haven't seen that many injuries in one game in a long time.

Aaahhhh, that's better. Patriots beat the Dolphins, 38-24. Brady throws for 517 yards and four touchdowns, including a 99-yarder to Wes Welker. :)

The offense has never been in doubt, though. It's the defense that had the most question marks, and they didn't answer many of them tonight. Chad Henne had over 400 yards passing and they allowed more points than they probably should have.

I'm about to go to bed and will comment more in the morning, but not only did I call the 99 yard TD pass to my wife, but it went to Welker, who is my favorite WR of the NEP.

Plus now they have a double Gronk! How awesome is that?

It was a nightmare, but I don't think it had anything to do with the turf...??

Jackson's first rush from scrimmage was a 47 yard touchdown run. He highstepped to avoid a diving foot tackle at the goalline and pulled something.

Bradford hit his hand on a rusher while throwing a pass in the 4th quarter.

Amendola made a catch and just went down funny. He hit the turf and was obviously hurt right away. Maybe it would have been softer on grass, I don't know.

Bartell was going for a tackle and was hit by a lineman in the head. It was clean/accidental.

I didn't see Smith's injury. They're saying he might be out for 4 weeks.

Talk about going from optimistic heights to depressing lows in 3 hours. Geez, that was an awful game, all the way around.

Don't know what to say.... Denver's defense got better the second half, but still allowed big running plays. We took too many stupid penalties to dig major holes. The Red Zone Impotence continues. Orton was good very late.... in an effort to make up for a terrible rest of the game that included too many dumb mistakes, bad throws, and sacks on his part. At least we were in it I guess.
